American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. Larry Brackins (born November 5, 1982) is an American football wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the fifth round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He played college football at Pearl River Community College. Brackins has also been a member of the New York Jets, New York Sentinels, Philadelphia Soul, Dallas Vigilantes, Orlando Predators and Cleveland Gladiators. Early years Brackins attended Dothan High School where he was an All-State selection in both basketball and football. Darrin Earl Chiaverini (born October 12, 1977) is an American football assistant coach and former wide receiver. He played college football at Colorado. He was drafted in the fifth round (148th overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. During his career, he also played for the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). Shante Carver (born February 12, 1971) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He also was a member of the Memphis Maniax and Dallas Desperados. He played college football at Arizona State University. Early years Carver attended Lincoln High School, where he played football (defensive end / tight end) and basketball (center), receiving All-state honors as a senior in both sports.
