Marguerite Clayton
Marguerite Clayton (born Margaret Fitzgerald; April 12, 1891 – December 20, 1968) was an American actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 170 films between 1909 and 1928, many of which were westerns with Broncho Billy Anderson and Harry Carey. Biography Margaret Fitzgerald was born in Ogden, Utah, on April 12, 1891 and attended St. Mary's Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah. He father was a mining engineer. In 1909, Clayton made her first films, ''A Mexican's Gratitude'' and ''The Heart of a Cowboy'', with Anderson. Her film career ended in 1928. Her employers included Essanay. Clayton died in Los Angeles, California, in a road accident. She was buried with her husband Major General Victor Bertrandias in Arlington National Cemetery. Vitagraph Studios, also known as the Vitagraph Company of America, was a United States motion picture studio. It was founded by J. Stuart Blackton and Albert E. Smith in 1897 in Brooklyn, New York, as the American Vitagraph Company. By 1907, it was the most prolific American film production company, producing many famous silent films. It was bought by Warner Bros. in 1925. History In 1896, English émigré Blackton was moonlighting as a reporter/artist for the New York ''Evening World'' when he was sent to interview Thomas Edison about his new film projector. The inventor talked the entrepreneurial reporter into buying a set of films and a projector. A year later, Blackton and business partner Smith founded the American Vitagraph Company in direct competition with Edison. A third partner, distributor William "Pop" Rock, joined in 1899. Stanley Walpole (b. 1886 – d: March 14, 1968 (age 82) ) was an Australian actor of stage and screen who was one of the first Australians have success in American films. Biography Walpole worked for Bland Holt then with J.C. Williamson for six years. He and his wife Ethel Phillips, along with Charles Villers, were the resident actors for Australian Photoplay Company. In 1912 he moved to the USA and appeared in a number of films there, becoming a leading man for the Eclair Company. He returned to Australia for eight months in Melbourne acting for J.C Williamsons, then returned to the US and was signed by Julius Stern for Universal Heights. Paul Scardon
Paul Scardon (6 May 1874 – 17 January 1954) was an actor, a producer, and a director on both Australian and New York stages. When he was 15, Scardon debuted on stage as a contortionist in vaudeville. He progressed from that to pantomime and then joined a troupe headed by J. C. Williamson, touring New Zealand and Australia for five years. In 1905, he joined a company headed by Nance O'Neil, and that group's tour brought him to the United States. ''The Alibi'' is a 2006 American film directed by Kurt Mattila and Matt Checkowski and written by Noah Hawley. It stars Steve Coogan, Rebecca Romijn, and Selma Blair. Triangle Film Corporation (also known as Triangle Motion Picture Company) was a major American motion-picture studio, founded in July 1915 in Culver City, California and terminated 7 years later in 1922. History The studio was founded in July 1915 by Harry and Roy Aitken, two brothers from the Wisconsin farmlands who pioneered the studio system of Hollywood's Golden Age. Harry was also D. W. Mary Maguire Alden (June 18, 1883 – July 2, 1946) was an American motion picture and stage actress. She was one of the first Broadway actresses to work in Hollywood. Life Alden was born in New York City on June 18, 1883. She performed on Broadway in ''Personal'' (1907) and ''The Rule of Three'' (1914). She worked for the Biograph Company and Pathé Exchange in the first portion of her career. Her most popular role in movies came in ''The Birth of a Nation'' directed by D.W. Griffith in 1915.
