Lisewo
Lisewo (german: Lissewo, 1942-45: Lissen) is a village in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in north-central Poland. The village is the seat of Gmina Lisewo, a part of Chełmno County. Lisewo is situated 33 km north of Toruń and 20 km east of Chełmno along an important transport and communication route. The closest towns are Chełmża (13 km) and Wąbrzeźno (17 km). It lies approximately south-east of Chełmno and north of Toruń. Lisewo municipality spreads over an area of 8620 ha and is inhabited by 5,500 people, of which most are farmers. Local agriculture is dominated by individual farming. 80% of regional benefit is gained by agriculture, whereas only 0.3% derives from forestry. History The oldest known mention of the village comes from 1293. The autostrada A1, officially named Amber Highway ( pl, Autostrada Bursztynowa) in Poland is a north–south motorway, partly under construction, that runs through central Poland, from Gdańsk (on the Baltic Sea) through Łódź and the Upper Silesian Industry Area (to the west of Katowice) to the Polish-Czech border in Gorzyczki/Věřňovice, where it is connected with the Czech motorway D1. Chełmno County ( pl, powiat chełmiński) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, north-central Poland. It came into being on 1 January 1999, as a result of the Polish local government reforms adopted in 1998. Its administrative seat and only town is Chełmno, which lies north of Toruń and north-east of Bydgoszcz. The county covers an area of .
