Lisa Fattah
Lisa Fattah (1941–1992) was a German-born artist of Swedish descent who lived and worked in Iraq. Life and career Fattah studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma graduating in 1963 and the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. While she was in Rome, she met Iraqi artist Ismail Fattah, who she later married. After her studies concluded, she moved to Baghdad. She died in Baghdad in 1992. Work Her work often expresses her anger at the violence experienced by the Iraqi people. Shabout, N. The Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma is a public tertiary academy of art in Rome, Italy. It was founded in the sixteenth century, but the present institution dates from the time of the unification of Italy and the capture of Rome by the Kingdom of Italy in 1870. Iraqi art is one of the richest art heritages in world and refers to all works of visual art originating from the geographical region of what is present day Iraq since ancient Mesopotamian periods. For centuries, the capital, Baghdad was the Medieval centre of the literary and artistic Arab world during the Abbasid Caliphate, in which Baghdad was the capital, but its artistic traditions suffered at the hands of the Mongol invaders in the 13th century. During other periods it has flourished, such as during the reign of Pir Budaq, or under Ottoman rule in the 16th century when Baghdad was known for its Ottoman miniature painting. The Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando (RABASF; ), located on the Calle de Alcalá in the heart of Madrid, currently functions as a museum and gallery. A public law corporation, it is integrated together with other Spanish royal academies in the . History The academy was established by royal decree in 1752. About twenty years later, the enlightened monarch Charles III purchased a palace in Madrid as the academy's new home.
