The following is a list of characters who first appeared in the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'' during 2010, they are listed in order of their first appearance. They were all introduced by the show's executive producer, Susan Bower. The 26th season of ''Neighbours'' began airing on 11 January 2010. Comedian Peter Moon joined the cast as theatre producer Terry Kearney in February. That same month saw Chris Pappas, the show's first regular, gay male character, make his debut. Established character, Donna Freedman's father, Nick Nixon joined in April and two new regular characters, Michael and Natasha Williams, began appearing from May. Neighbours
''Neighbours'' is an Australian television soap opera, which has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap '' Sons and Daughters.'' Although successful in Melbourne, ''Neighbours'' underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. ''Neighbours'' went on to become the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame. The storylines concern the lives of the people who live and work in Erinsborough, a fictional suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. Gemma Pranita
Gemma Pranita (born 18 December 1985) is a Thai-born Australian actress. Pranita was encouraged to join the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) by her drama teacher, and from 1999 to 2003, she competed at state level in the Shakespeare Globe Association's annual Shakespeare festival. Pranita formed a theatre company called Cry Havoc! with her best friend in 2006. After graduating from WAAPA, Pranita joined the Bell Shakespeare theatre company. She has also had roles in the films, ''Crush (2009 film), Crush'' and ''Resistance''. In September 2010, Pranita joined the cast of Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'' as Jade Mitchell. Lou Carpenter
Lou Carpenter is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Tom Oliver. He made his first screen appearance on 30 March 1988. Oliver appeared for a brief time, having been initially contracted for six months, before leaving and returning in January 1992 as a regular cast member. In 1996, Lou was written out of ''Neighbours'', a move that shocked Oliver as his character had become popular with fans. ''Neighbours'' viewers created petitions calling for his return and the strength of their reaction caused the producers to reconsider their decision and reinstate Oliver. Janet Andrewartha
Janet Andrewartha (16 September 1951) is an Australian television and theatre actress. Andrewartha began her career as a music teacher before attending drama school. She graduated in 1979and began securing television and theatre roles. Andrewartha's most significant roles have been in Australian television series, most prominently Reb Kean in ''Prisoner (TV series), Prisoner'' and Lyn Scully in the soap opera ''Neighbours''. Outside of television she has actively pursued her theatre career in the early 1980's and performing in the genre over four decades and has worked in numerous productions with the Melbourne Theatre Company and Malthouse Theatre, Playbox Theatre Company. Lyn Scully
Lyn Scully is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Neighbours'', played by Janet Andrewartha. The character made her first screen appearance during the episode broadcast on 20 October 1999, along with her family and remained a prominent feature within the show until late 2006. Andrewartha reprised her role for a brief return in 2008 and then returned permanently in August 2009. Lyn departed again on 26 May 2011, so Andrewartha could pursue new acting opportunities.
