Liri Gero
Liri Gero (1926–1944) was a young Albanian communist activist and resistance member during World War II. Fighting along the partisan forces, she was killed in a skirmish with the Nazis. For her heroism she received the title People's Hero of Albania. Life Gero was Albanian of Aromanian descent, born in Fier, central Albania, in 1926. At a very young age she was involved with the resistance, as part of the communist cells opposing the Fascist occupation. Her home was one of the "safe houses" used by the resistance members for their activities. On 14 September 1943, Gero and other 67 girls from Fier, 68 in total joined the same night the ranks of the partisans of the National Liberation Movement, a remarkable moment in the history of Albanian resistance, considering the fact that Fier had around 5,000 people at the time. The People's Socialist Republic of Albania ( sq, Republika Popullore Socialiste e Shqipërisë, links=no) was the Marxist–Leninist one party state that existed in Albania from 1946 to 1992 (the official name of the country was the People's Republic of Albania from 1946 until 1976 and the Republic of Albania from 1991 until its dissolution in 1992). From 1944 to 1946, the state of Albania was known as the Democratic Government of Albania. During this time period, the country was ruled by Enver Hoxha and the Party of Labour of Albania. Margarita Tutulani
Margarita Tutulani (1925 – 6 July, 1943) was an Anti-fascism, anti-fascist and hero of Albania during World War II. Her brutal death inspired many to join the resistance against fascism in Albania. Biography Tutulani was born in Berat, to a family the Gorica neighborhood. Her grandfather, Dhimiter Tutulani, was a notable lawyer and one of the signers of the Albanian Declaration of Independence in 1912 and her father was a member of the Parliament of Albania, Albanian Parliament. She attended the Queen Mother Pedagogical Institute in Tirana. When Italian invasion of Albania, Italy invaded Albania in April 1939, Tutulani moved back to Berat, where she and her family protested and demonstrated against Italian rule of their country. In 1942, she joined the Communist party, Communist Party.
