Diane Lipscombe
Diane Lipscombe (born March 31, 1960) is a British neuroscientist who is a professor of neuroscience and the Reliance Dhirubhai Ambani Director of Brown University’s Robert J. and Nancy D. Carney Institute for Brain Science. She served as the president of the Society for Neuroscience in 2019, the world’s largest organization for the study of the brain and nervous system. Lipscombe was named one of ''Fast Company''’s most creative people in 2019 for her leadership at the Carney Institute, by encouraging collaboration to spur development of innovative treatments. Her lab studies the expression, regulation, and function of voltage-gated calcium channels in different regions of the nervous system. Lipscombe is interested in the role of voltage-gated calcium channels in chronic pain and neurodegenerative and psychiatric disorders. Jesse Lipscombe (born 1980) is a Canadian actor. He won a Rosie Award for Best Performance by an Alberta Actor for his performance in the 2017 film, '' It's Not My Fault and I Don't Care Anyway''. and was one of the executive producers of the sketch comedy show ''Tiny Plastic Men'' for which he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Comedy Series at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards. Edward Hart Lipscombe
Edward Hart Lipscombe (born September 29, 1858) was an educator and religious leader in North Carolina in the late 19th century. He was a professor at Shaw University and a co-founder of the journal, the ''African Expositor''. Later, he became a professor of the Dallas Institute, which he developed into the Western Union Institute, a leading Baptist school in Asheville, North Carolina. Early life Lipscombe was born September 29, 1858, in Orange County, North Carolina, the oldest of four children. In 1868 he moved to Raleigh to study in a school run by William Warrick, but in 1870 he returned to the farm where his mother lived to help her with her work. He resumed his studies for a short time in 1871, but soon returned to the farm. Colonel Nicolas John Lipscombe (born 5 June 1958 in Angers, France) is a British historian, author, tour guide, lecturer and university tutor. Military career Lipscombe was commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Artillery in 1981 following his military and academic training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where he was awarded the Tombs Benson Memorial Scholarship. During his 34 years of military service in the British Army he spent most of his career abroad and/or on operations. He was awarded the United States Bronze Star Medal in 2006 in recognition of services during coalition operations in Iraq. Academic career Lipscombe was educated at St. Peter's Catholic School, Bournemouth. Lorraine L. Lipscombe is a Canadian endocrinologist. In 2021, Lipscombe was appointed the director of the University of Toronto's Novo Nordisk Network for Healthy Populations. Early life and education Born and raised in Montreal, Lipscombe completed her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology at Concordia University where she helped complete research on how hormones affect maternal behaviour in rats. She then completed her medical degree at McGill University in 1998 before enrolling at the University of Toronto for Internal Medicine and Endocrinology residency training, followed by a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology, Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation. While completing her master's degree, Lipscombe discovered that there was a bidirectional relationship between breast cancer and diabetes.
