Lioujia District
Lioujia District, United States National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency () is a rural district of about 21,392 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Lioujia was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, Tainan County was merged with Tainan City and Lioujia was upgraded to a district of the city. Geography Lioujia District is bordered to the east by Nansi District; to the north by Liouying District and Dongshan District; to the south by Guantian District and Danei District, and to the west by Xiaying District. Administrative divisions Liujia, Jiatung, Jianan, Longhu, Qijia, Erjia, Shuilin, Zhongshe, Guigang, Jingpu, Wangye and Daqiu Village. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. Danei District
Danei District () is a rural district of about 8,948 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. History Formerly home to the Tevorangh Taiwanese Plains Aborigines, a branch of the Siraya people (Baccloangh subtribe). In 1920, the area was designated , , Tainan Prefecture. After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Danei was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, Tainan County merged with Tainan City and Danei was upgraded to a district of the city. Tien Hung-mao
Tien Hung-mao (; born 7 November 1938) is a Taiwanese politician. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs from 20 May 2000 until 1 February 2002. Career Tien received a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1969, where he wrote his dissertation on political development in China from 1927 to 1937. Thereafter he was a university professor for more than twenty years, and naturalised as a U.S. citizen. After he moved back to Taiwan, Lee Teng-hui had asked him twice in the 1990s to serve in the Executive Yuan Council, but each time he refused; reportedly, the requirement that he renounce U.S. citizenship was a major barrier. He eventually accepted Chen Shui-bian's offer to become Minister of Foreign Affairs, and renounced his U.S. citizenship on 11 May, eight days before taking office. Wushantou Reservoir
Wushantou Reservoir (), sometimes spelled Wushanto or Wusanto, is a reservoir and scenic area located in Lioujia District and Guantian District of Tainan, Taiwan. It is also referred to as Coral Lake () due to its zigzagging shoreline. The reservoir was designed by engineer Yoichi Hatta and was the largest in Asia at the time of its completion in 1930. Overview Construction of the Wusanto Reservoir began in 1920 and was completed in 1930. The goal of the project was to provide irrigation for over 100-thousand hectares of farmland in the Chianan area. After construction of the reservoir, the irrigation plain became an important producer of rice for consumption in Taiwan and Japan, with three rice harvests possible each year. Engineering The reservoir was built in conjunction with the Chianan Canal, also designed by Hatta.
