Lionsbridge Football Club, or Lionsbridge FC, is an American soccer club based on the Virginia Peninsula, which comprises the cities of Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, and York and James City counties. The club was founded in 2017, and play in USL League Two. The club's colors are blue, black and white, and the club is named for the Lions Bridge, the iconic Peninsula landmark that has stood along the James River and in the Mariners' Museum Park since 1923. The team plays its home games at TowneBank Stadium on the campus of Christopher Newport University. Background The original founders include Mike Vest, Kevin Joyce, and Dan Chenoweth, all of whom are Virginia Peninsula residents. Lionsbridge FC announced its launch on June 9, 2017, via a social media release. At the time of the team's announcement, the club invited fans to help determine its crest via a fan vote on social media. Gateshead Football Club is a professional football club based in Gateshead, England. The team compete in and play at the Gateshead International Stadium. Established in 1977 after Gateshead United folded, the club are known as the "Tynesiders" or the "Heed". Charlotte Independence is an American soccer team based in Charlotte, North Carolina that plays in the USL League One, the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. The club was established on February 21, 2021, and is a member of the USL Championship, the second tier of the American soccer league system. Adrian Rebollar-Cortes (born November 12, 1999) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Monterey Bay F.C. in the USL Championship. Career Youth career Rebollar played club soccer with the Santa Cruz Breakers academy team. In 2017, Rebollar attended California State University, Monterey Bay to play college soccer. John Paul "JP" Scearce (born December 19, 1997) is an American soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Union Omaha in USL League One. Career High school J.P. Searce attended Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Arizona College & Amateur Scearce began playing college soccer at Yavapai College in 2016, where he spent two seasons, making a total of 38 regular season appearances, scoring 13 goals and tallying 31 assists. Joe Rice (born March 6, 1996) is an American professional soccer player who plays as a goalkeeper for Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the USL Championship. Career Rice played college soccer at Virginia Commonwealth University between 2014 and 2018, where he spent a year redshirted and only made six appearances for the Rams.
