Line 2 of the Saint Petersburg Metro, also known as ''Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line'' (russian: Моско́вско-Петрогра́дская ли́ния) or ''Blue Line'', is a second oldest rapid transit line in Saint Petersburg, Russia, opened in 1961, which connects city centre with the northern and southern districts. It featured the first cross-platform transfer in the USSR. It was also the first metro line in Saint Petersburg to feature a unique platform type that soon became dubbed as "Horizontal Lift". Metrovagonmash 81-717/81-714
81-717/714 is a metro car designed in the Soviet Union in the mid-1970s. The cars were made from 1976 to 2010 by Metrovagonmash and the I. E. Yegorov Vagonmash factories of Mytishchi and Saint Petersburg, respectively. Production is still ongoing for specific models and/or modernizations. The name 81-717 and 81-714 come from the Soviet electric rail vehicle numbering system, where the 81-717 cars are the control cars and the 81-714 are the trailer cars. Unlike the previous metro sets made in the Soviet Union, they never received a lettered classification, thus, they have been known as the 81-series or the "Number Trains" (Номерной Поезд). Sennaya Ploshchad ( rus, Сеннáя плóщадь, p=sʲɪˈnːajə ˈploɕːɪtʲ, ''Sennaya Square'') is a station on the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line of Saint Petersburg Metro. History The station opened on 1 July 1963. It is a deep underground pylon station. Its surface vestibule is situated near Sennaya Square, which gives its name to the station. The Saviour Church on Sennaya Square was demolished to give way for construction of the entrance to the station. Before 1992 both the square and the station were known under the name Ploshchad Mira (Peace Square). In June 1999 the concrete canopy of the surface vestibule collapsed, killing seven. Nevsky Prospekt (Saint Petersburg Metro)
Nevsky Prospekt (russian: Не́вский проспе́кт) is a station on the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It serves the street of the same name, one of the largest in the city. The station was opened on July 1, 1963. While the station itself was designed by Mayofis and Maximov, the interior was designed by Getskin, Shuvalova and Andreyev. The station has two sets of exits on Mikhailovskya Street. The station is linked to Gostiny Dvor via a transfer corridor that descends to the middle of the platform and a set of escalators at the platform's northern end. Nevsky Prospekt is considered one of the most congested stations in the entire Saint Petersburg Metro. Tekhnologichesky Institut ( rus, Технологи́ческий институ́т, p=tʲɪxnəlɐˈɡʲitɕɪskʲɪj ɪnstʲɪˈtut) (English: Technology Institute) is a cross-platform interchange station of the Saint Petersburg Metro. The station consists of two halls, both serving the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya Line and Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line trains. The first hall serves the southbound trains, while the second hall serves the northbound ones. History The first hall was opened on November 15, 1955, as part of the first metro line between Avtovo and Ploshchad Vosstaniya. Parnas (russian: Парна́с) is the northern terminus of the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya Line of the Saint Petersburg Metro. It was opened on 22 December 2006 and is located between the tunnel portal and the Vyborgskoye Metro Depot. It is the northernmost subway station in Saint Petersburg and in Russia. The station is side-platform arrangement almost identical to the other three surface stations in the system: Kupchino, Rybatskoye and Devyatkino, which are also located between tunnel portals and their lines' depots, however unlike those stations there is no transfer to the suburban commuter trains (elektrichkas).
