The Lindenwood Lions and Lady Lions are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Lindenwood University, located in St. Charles, Missouri, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the Ohio Valley Conference for most of its sports since the 2022–23 academic year. Prior joining to NCAA Division I, the Lions previously competed in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) from 2019–20 to 2021–22; in the D-II Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) from 2013–14 to 2018–19; and as an NCAA D-II Independent during its provisional season in the 2011–12 school year. Lindenwood University
Lindenwood University is a private university in St. Charles, Missouri. Founded in 1827 by George Champlin Sibley and Mary Easton Sibley as The Lindenwood School for Girls, it is the second-oldest higher-education institution west of the Mississippi River. The Lindenwood Lions football team represents Lindenwood University in football. Lindenwood is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). The Lions were provisional members of the NCAA Division I FCS for the 2022 season before becoming an active member during the 2023–2024 academic year. The Lindenwood Lions men's basketball team represents Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri, United States. The Lions currently compete in the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference. Due to the NCAA's policy on reclassifying programs, the Lions will not be eligible to compete in the NCAA tournament or the NIT until the 2026–27 season. KREX-TV, virtual channel 5 ( VHF digital channel 2), is a CBS- affiliated television station licensed to Grand Junction, Colorado, United States and serving Colorado's Western Slope region. Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association
The Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) was a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II lacrosse-only college athletic conference composed of schools located in the Western United States. All schools are members of other conferences in other sports. WILA was formed at the beginning of the 2010–2011 academic year in order to name a champion (which does not involve a tournament), players of the week, and an all-league team at the end of the season. With no automatic qualifiers (AQ) currently in NCAA Division II men's lacrosse, conferences play a different role than in Division III. Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis was a group of publications in the St. Louis region owned by Lee Enterprises. The chain served the St. Louis and St. Charles counties in Missouri and in the Madison, Monroe and St. Clair Counties in Illinois. NCAA Division II
NCAA Division II (D-II) is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). It offers an alternative to both the larger and better-funded Division I and to the scholarship-free environment offered in Division III. Before 1973, the NCAA's smaller schools were grouped together in the College Division. In 1973, the College Division split in two when the NCAA began using numeric designations for its competitions.
