Linda Reynolds
Linda Karen Reynolds (born 16 May 1965) is an Australian politician. She is a member of the Liberal Party and has served as a Senator for Western Australia since 2014. She held senior ministerial office as a cabinet minister in the Morrison government from 2019 to 2022. Before entering parliament Reynolds was a member of the Australian Army Reserve for nearly 30 years and was the first woman in the reserve to attain the rank of brigadier. She was initially elected to the Senate at the 2013 federal election, but the result was voided and she was re-elected at a supplementary election in 2014. In the Morrison government she served as Assistant Minister for Home Affairs (2018–2019), Minister for Defence Industry (2019), Minister for Emergency Management and North Queensland Recovery (2019), Minister for Defence (2019–2021), and Minister for Government Services and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (2021–2022). Jason Peter Wood (born 24 May 1968) is an Australian politician and former police officer. He is a member of the Liberal Party and served as the Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs in the Morrison Government from May 2019 until May 2022, following the appointment of the Albanese ministry. He represents the Division of La Trobe in Victoria, which he has held since 2013 and previously from 2004 to 2010. Early life Wood was born on 24 May 1968 in Sutherland, New South Wales. 2014 Australian Senate Special Election In Western Australia
On 5 April 2014, an Australian Senate special election in Western Australia was held. The special election was held six months after the 2013 Australian federal election. The result of that 2013 election for the Australian Senate in Western Australia was voided on 20 February 2014 by the High Court of Australia, sitting as the Court of Disputed Returns, because 1,375 ballot papers were lost during an official recount in November 2013. The High Court ruled that because the number of lost ballots exceeded the margin for the two remaining Senate seats, the only acceptable remedy was to void the results and hold a special election. Following the election on 5 April, preferences were distributed on 29 April 2014 according to the group voting ticket voting system used at that time. The 2013 Australian federal election to elect the members of the 44th Parliament of Australia took place on 7 September 2013. The Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) is a decoration (medal) of the Australian honours system.
