Linda Bresonik
Linda Bresonik (born 7 December 1983) is a German retired footballer. She played as a defensive midfielder or wing back. She mostly played for Duisburg, and many times for Germany. Career Club Bresonik began her career at the age of five at TuS 84/10 Essen, before moving to Grün-Weiß Schönebeck in 1995. She joined FCR 2001 Duisburg in 2000 and made her Bundesliga debut for the club. In the 2004–05 season, Duisburg finished runner-up in the league. After a falling out with the club, Bresonik transferred to Bundesliga side SC 07 Bad Neuenahr in 2005, but she only appeared in five matches there. One year later she moved to SG Essen-Schönebeck, where she played for two seasons. In 2008, Bresonik returned to FCR 2001 Duisburg. During her second stint at the club, she had her biggest success at club level, winning the UEFA Women's Cup in the 2008–09 season. Football At The 2008 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The women's association football tournament at the 2008 Summer Olympics was held in Beijing and four other cities in China from 6 to 21 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA were invited to send their full women's national teams. For these Games, the women competed in a 12-team tournament. Preliminary matches commenced on 6 August, two days before the Opening Ceremony of the Games. The teams were grouped into three pools of four teams each for a round-robin preliminary round. The top two teams in each pool, as well as the best two third-place finishing teams, advanced to an eight-team single-elimination bracket. The tournament was won by the United States, which beat Brazil 1–0 in the gold medal game. BV Cloppenburg
BV Cloppenburg is a German association football club located in Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony. History The club was founded after World War I in 1919 as the successor to SV Cloppenburg 1911. Through the 1950s they played in the Amateurliga Niedersachsen-West (II), and in the 1960s in the Verbandsliga Niedersachsen West (III), before falling out of sight in the early-1970s to become an obscure local side. In recent years, BV managed to rise as high as the third division Regionalliga Nord in 1998 for a couple of seasons, before falling back to the Oberliga Niedersachsen/Bremen (IV). Annike Krahn
Annike Berit Krahn (born 1 July 1985) is a German former footballer who played as a centre back. Club career Krahn started playing football at the age of four. She played at SV Westfalia Weitmar 09, SV Waldesrand Linden, TuS Harpen and SG Wattenscheid 09 at youth level, before joining FCR 2001 Duisburg in 2004. Krahn was runner-up in the Bundesliga five times with Duisburg, including four seasons in a row from 2005 to 2008. She won the German Cup twice with the club and claimed the UEFA Women's Cup with Duisburg in the 2008–09 season. During qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League against Glasgow City in August 2010, Krahn tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee. The DFB-Pokal Frauen is the main national women's football cup competition in Germany, thus the female counterpart to the DFB-Pokal. It was created in 1980, and since 1991 includes Eastern teams as well. The most recent champions are VfL Wolfsburg (five consecutive titles). FFC Frankfurt has won the most titles with nine. The final has, with the exception of the 1983 final, always been held on the same day prior to the men's final. Since 1985 the final has thus been held in Berlin.
