Lincoln Gap Wind Farm
The Lincoln Gap Wind Farm is a wind farm in the vicinity of Lincoln Gap on northeastern Eyre Peninsula in South Australia, Australia. It consists of 59 wind turbines and generates a total of 212 MW of electricity. Construction began in late 2017 and was initially expected to be commissioned in late 2018. Construction was delayed in July 2018 when unexploded ordnance was discovered on the site, left from historic military testing. The site is not far from the Cultana Training Area. Following Senvion's European parent company commencing insolvency proceedings, Vestas was engaged to provide maintenance services for the 126 MW first stage, and the 24 3.6 MW turbines for the second stage. Port Augusta is a small city in South Australia. Formerly a seaport, it is now a road traffic and railway junction city mainly located on the east coast of the Spencer Gulf immediately south of the gulf's head and about north of the state capital, Adelaide. Nexif RATCH Energy is a Singapore-based company that owns and operates wind farms and other renewable energy projects in several countries. It is a joint venture of Nexif and RATCH Group Thailand PCL founded in December 2022. Power sources In August 2019, Nexif took up a 25-year lease of the Temporary Generation North consisting of five open cycle gas turbines in South Australia, with the lease taking effect from May 2020. Cultana Training Area
The Cultana Training Area is an Australian Army training area on northeastern Eyre Peninsula in South Australia between Port Augusta, Whyalla and Iron Knob. It includes the former Baxter Detention Centre. The training area was enlarged in 2014 to accommodate training needs of 1st Brigade and 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment. Lincoln Gap, South Australia
Lincoln Gap is a locality in the northeastern corner of Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. It is named after a gap between steep-sided hills. The Whyalla railway line and Eyre Highway pass through the gap. The Lincoln Highway branches from the Eyre Highway southwest of the gap, also within the bounds of the locality. The formal boundaries of the locality were created on 26 April 2013 and adjusted on 25 September 2014, however the locality had been known as Lincoln Gap for much longer. The northeastern part of the bounded locality is included in the City of Port Augusta local government area, and the state electoral district of Stuart. ''The Transcontinental'' is a weekly newspaper published in Port Augusta, South Australia which dates from October 1914. It was later sold to Rural Press, previously owned by Fairfax Media, but now an Australian media company trading as Australian Community Media.
