Lincoln City, Oregon
Lincoln City is a city in Lincoln County on the Oregon Coast of the United States, between Tillamook and Newport. It is named after the county, which was named in honor of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. The population was 9,815 at the 2020 Census. History Lincoln City was incorporated on March 3, 1965, uniting the cities of Delake, Oceanlake and Taft, and the unincorporated communities of Cutler City and Nelscott. These were adjacent communities along U.S. Route 101, which serves as Lincoln City's main street. The name "Lincoln City" was chosen from contest entries submitted by local school children. The contest was held when it was determined that using one of the five communities' names would be too controversial. Former communities Cutler City Cutler City is located on the east shore of Siletz Bay. The community was started by Mr. and Mrs. George Cutler. Lincoln City, Indiana
Lincoln City is an unincorporated community in Carter Township, Spencer County in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Indiana. It lies five minutes south of Interstate 64, northeast of Evansville, and approximately twenty miles north of the Ohio River. History Lincoln City was laid out in 1872 when the railroad was extended to that point. The community was named for the Lincoln family. Nearby is the Nancy Hanks Lincoln Memorial, as well as the site of the Lincoln log cabin, built in 1816. President Abraham Lincoln spent much of his childhood (from the ages of 7 to 21) on this farm, and as a young man he practiced law at the nearby Spencer County courthouse. Also located in Lincoln City is the Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial, a national park managed by the National Park Service that includes a Living Historical Farm that attempts to recreate the early nineteenth-century period during which the Lincoln family lived in the area. Lincoln, Delaware
Lincoln (originally Lincoln City) is an unincorporated community in northern Sussex County, Delaware, United States. It is part of the Salisbury, Maryland-Delaware Metropolitan Statistical Area. The planner who originally laid out the town planned for it to become the county seat. Lincoln lies on U.S. Route 113 between Ellendale and Milford. The town was never incorporated, but streets were laid out and several businesses and residences came, surrounding the current Delmarva Central Railroad line. Lincoln was formerly the headquarters of the Delaware Coast Line Railroad. Recently there has been a push to incorporate Lincoln, primarily for two reasons. First, the city of Milford is quickly growing towards Lincoln and could eventually envelop the town. HMT Lincoln City
HMT ''Lincoln City'' was an anti-submarine warfare (ASW) trawler in the service of the British Royal Navy during World War II. She was bombed during an air raid and sank on 21 February 1941 at the Faroe Islands. Construction and Ownership Smiths Dock Company built the ship as the fishing vessel ''Pembroke Castle'' in 1933. The ship was of 398 tons and was equipped with a 1x3 cylinder triple expansion engine. The ship began her life with the Consolidated Steam Fishing & Ice Compmnay, Ltd., and served as a fishing boat for the company from 1933 until 1939. In April 1938, her name was changed to ''Lincoln City''. Requisition by the Admiralty During World War II, the Royal Navy requisitioned hundreds of civilian ships for war service in various roles, with many ending up as minesweepers or anti-submarine warfare trawlers.
