Lin Wan-i () is a Taiwanese people, Taiwanese academic and minister without portfolio of the Executive Yuan, having taken office on 20 May 2016. Education Lin obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in sociology from National Taiwan University in 1979 and 1981, respectively, and doctoral degree in social welfare from the University of California, Berkeley in the United States. Career Lin held multiple academic positions in the departments of sociology and social work at National Taiwan University from 1982 to the present. He served as a minister without portfolio under the Executive Yuan from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2016 to the present. Lin (; ) is the Mandarin romanization of the Chinese surname written 林. It is also used in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Cambodia. Executive Yuan
The Executive Yuan () is the executive branch of the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Its leader is the Premier, who is appointed by the President of the Republic of China, and requires confirmation by the Legislative Yuan. Under the amended constitution, the head of the Executive Yuan is the Premier who is positioned as the head of government and has the power to appoint members to serve in the cabinet, while the ROC President is the head of state under the semi-presidential system, who can appoint the Premier and nominate the members of the cabinet. National Taiwan University (NTU; ) is a public research university in Taipei, Taiwan. The university was founded in 1928 during Japanese rule as the seventh of the Imperial Universities. Taiwanese people may be generally considered the people of Taiwan who share a common culture, ancestry and speak Taiwanese Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka or indigenous Taiwanese languages as a mother tongue.
