Lime Lake is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the northeast part of the town of Machias, in Cattaraugus County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 867. Prior to the 2010 census, the area was delineated as part of the Lime Lake-Machias CDP. Geography Lime Lake is located in the northeast corner of the town of Machias at . It consists of development that surrounds a small water body named Lime Lake, about in diameter. The area is bordered to the south by the main hamlet of Machias. According to the United States Census Bureau, the Lime Lake CDP has a total area of , of which is land and , or 10.06%, is water. The outlet of Lime Lake flows north to Elton Creek in Delevan, which then continues north to Cattaraugus Creek, a west-flowing tributary of Lake Erie. Tweed is a municipality located in central-eastern Ontario, Canada, in Hastings County. History The Municipality of Tweed is an amalgamated municipality comprising the former Village of Tweed and the former Hungerford Township and former Elzevir & Grimsthorpe Townships. The Municipality was incorporated on 1 January 1998 as a lower tier municipality within the County of Hastings two tier governing system. The post office was established in 1852. Elzevir Township (formed circa 1869, location of a major gold strike) and Grimsthorpe Township (formed 22 February 1867 during the local gold rush) had been administered as one entity since before 1968 until amalgamation into the Municipality of Tweed. Whitehead Pond, known today as Lime Lake, is a man-made fresh water pond originally built as a stormwater pond to reduce flooding in the surrounding area. The pond lies at the easternmost edge of 22nd Street in Sarasota, Florida. The pond and its surrounding acreage was originally purchased by Wilmon Whitehead after he returned from World War II in 1947, where he raised his family. Lime Lake is a freshwater lake located in Cleveland Township, Leelanau County, Michigan, approximately two miles north of the Village of Maple City, Michigan. The lake is located in a basin setting of wooded rolling sand hills approximately south of Good Harbor Bay and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.
