Lily Van Der Stokker
Lily van der Stokker (born 1954) is a Dutch visual artist. She is known for her colorful site-specific painted installations incorporating words and decorative motifs that reference social realities and power dynamics. Biography Lily van der Stokker was born in Den Bosch, Netherlands, and lives in New York City and Amsterdam. She received a degree from the Academy of Art and Design St. Joost in Breda in monumental design and painting, where she studied from 1975 to 1979, and a degree from the R.K. Scholengemeenschap St. Dionysus in Tilburg in drawing and textiles. Exhibitions Lily van der Stokker has exhibited her work widely including one-person shows at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2018); Museum Ludwig, Cologne, Germany (2003); Galerie Air de Paris, Paris (2014, 2005, 2000); Tate Museum St. Ives, Cornwall, England (2012); Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2005–7), among others. Den Bosch
s-Hertogenbosch (), colloquially known as Den Bosch (), is a city and municipality in the Netherlands with a population of 157,486. It is the capital of the province of North Brabant and its fourth largest by population. Hammer Museum
The Hammer Museum, which is affiliated with the University of California, Los Angeles, is an art museum and cultural center known for its artist-centric and progressive array of exhibitions and public programs. Van Abbemuseum
The Van Abbemuseum () is a museum of modern and contemporary art in central Eindhoven, Netherlands, on the east bank of the Dommel River. Established in 1936, the museum is named after its founder, Henri van Abbe, who loved modern art and wanted to enjoy it in Eindhoven. As of 2010, the collection of the museum housed more than 2700 works of art, of which about 1000 were on paper, 700 were paintings, and 1000 were sculptures, installations and video works. The museum has an area of 9,825 m2 and holds one of the largest collections of paintings in the world by El Lissitzky. It also has works by Pablo Picasso and Wassily Kandinsky.
