Liliana Porter
Liliana Porter (born 1941) is a contemporary artist working in a wide variety of media, including photography, printmaking, painting, drawing, installation, video, theater, and public art. Education and teaching experience Porter was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1941, but lives and works in New York. As a teenager, she attended the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, Mexico, where she studied under Guillermo Silva Santamaria and Mathias Goeritz. She returned to Argentina and completed her training at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. In 1964, she moved to New York City, where she co-founded thNew York Graphic Workshopwith fellow artists Luis Camnitzer and José Guillermo Castillo. Luis Camnitzer (born November 6, 1937) is a German-born Uruguayan artist, curator, art critic, and academic who was at the forefront of 1960s Conceptual Art. Camnitzer works primarily in sculpture, printmaking, and installation, exploring topics such as repression, institutional critique, and social justice. For over five decades, his practice has explored the psychological and political dimensions of language. Early life and education Luis Camnitzer was born in Lübeck, Germany in 1937 and moved to Montevideo, Uruguay in 1939. Guerrilla Girls is an anonymous group of feminist, female artists devoted to fighting sexism and racism within the art world. The group formed in New York City in 1985 with the mission of bringing gender and racial inequality into focus within the greater arts community. The group employs culture jamming in the form of posters, books, billboards, and public appearances to expose discrimination and corruption. They also often use humor in their work to make their serious messages engaging. Roy Fox Lichtenstein (; October 27, 1923 – September 29, 1997) was an American pop artist. Giorgio Morandi (July 20, 1890 – June 18, 1964) was an Italian painter and printmaker who specialized in still life.
