Lilian Marijnissen
Lilian M. C. Marijnissen (born 11 July 1985) is a Dutch politician serving as Leader of the Socialist Party and ''ex officio'' its parliamentary leader in the House of Representatives since 13 December 2017. She was first installed as a member of the House of Representatives on 23 March 2017 following the general election of 15 March. Marijnissen is a daughter of Jan Marijnissen Johannes Guillaume Christianus Andreas "Jan" Marijnissen () (born 8 October 1952) is a retired Dutch politician of the Socialist Party (SP). Marijnissen, a welder by occupation, was selected as Leader of the Socialist Party after the death of ..., a politician and formerly the leader of the same party. Her mother is Mari-Anne Marijnissen. The Leader of the Socialist Party is the most senior politician within the Socialist Party ( nl, Socialistische Partij, SP) in the Netherlands. The post is currently held by Lilian Marijnissen, who succeeded Emile Roemer on 13 December 2017. History The Leaders outwardly act as the 'figurehead' and the main representative of the party. Within the party, they must ensure political consensus. Except during the tenure of Daan Monjé, the Leader is always the ''Lijsttrekker'' (lead candidate) of the party list at election time. Outside election time the Leader can serve as the Opposition leader. Since the tenure of Jan Marijnissen, the Leader is always the Parliamentary leader of the Socialist Party in the House of Representatives.
