Lilia Vu
Lilia Kha-Tu Du Vu (born October 14, 1997) is an American professional golfer and LPGA Tour player. In 2023, she rose to number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings and became LPGA Tour Player of the Year after winning four titles, including two majors at the 2023 Chevron Championship and 2023 Women's British Open. Early life, college and amateur career Vu made a series of successful appearances for the U.S. national team and won the 2018 Curtis Cup, earning four points, and won the 2018 Espirito Santo Trophy in Ireland with Jennifer Kupcho and Kristen Gillman. She also won the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup at Evian Resort Golf Club in France. Individually, she was runner-up at the 2014 AJGA Girls Championship behind Lauren Stephenson and won the 2016 Women's Southern California Amateur Championship. Jennifer Anne Kupcho (born May 14, 1997) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career As a junior at Wake Forest University, she was named the winner of the Honda Sports Award for golf. As a senior, Kupcho won the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019. She also won the 2018 NCAA Division I Golf Championship. Kupcho was the number one ranked women's amateur golfer in the world for a total of 34 weeks, rising to the top on three occasions, the first time on July 11, 2018. Professional career Kupcho turned professional prior to the start of the 2019 U.S. Women's Open. World Amateur Golf Ranking
The World Amateur Golf Ranking for men was introduced by The R&A, the governing body of the sport of golf outside the United States and Mexico, on 23 January 2007. It is based on the results of over 2,600 amateur tournaments per year (and amateurs participating in certain professional events) and is updated each Wednesday. Rankings are based on the players' average performances in counting events over a rolling period. This period was 52 weeks initially but was gradually expanded during 2016 to 104 weeks, similar to those of the Official World Golf Ranking. The Chevron Championship is a professional women's golf tournament. An event on the LPGA Tour, it is one of the tour's five major championships, and has traditionally been the first of the season since its elevation to major status in 1983. Founded in 1972 by singer and actress Dinah Shore and Colgate-Palmolive chairman David Foster, it was played at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California from its inception through 2022. The Canadian Women's Amateur is Canada's annual national amateur golf tournament for women. It is open to women from all countries and is played at a different course each year. History The first championship was held from October 14 to 17, 1901 at Royal Montreal Golf Club. The 50 or so entries played 18 holes of stroke play on the first afternoon, after which the leading eight ladies played three rounds of 18-hole match play on the following three days. Lauren Stephenson (born July 13, 1997) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Stephenson played her college golf at Clemson University (one year) and the University of Alabama (two years). She also competed at the 2018 Curtis Cup and the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup.
