"Like a Lady" is a song by American country music group Lady A. It is the lead single to their ninth studio album '' What a Song Can Do''. Group member Hillary Scott co-wrote the song with Dave Barnes, Michelle Buzz, Martin Johnson, and Brandon Paddock, the last two of whom co-produced with Dann Huff. Lady A (formerly known as Lady Antebellum) is an American country music group formed in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2006. The group is composed of Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals), Charles Kelley (lead and background vocals, guitar), and Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin). Scott is the daughter of country music singer Linda Davis, and Kelley is the brother of pop singer Josh Kelley. The band abbreviated the name to "Lady A" in June 2020 during the George Floyd protests in an attempt to blunt the name's associations with slavery and the Antebellum South, inadvertently causing a dispute with black blues and gospel singer Anita White, who had been using the name Lady A for more than 20 years. Bering Strait was a Russian country music band, whose style was sometimes called "redgrass". In 2003, the band was nominated for a Grammy Award and appeared on the TV show ''60 Minutes''. The group disbanded in 2006. The lineup on their first album was Alexander Arzamastsev (drums), Natasha Borzilova (lead vocals), Sergey "Spooky" Olkhovsky (bass guitar), Sergei Passov (mandolin, fiddle), Lydia Salnikova (keyboards, background vocals), Sasha Ostrovsky (steel guitar, Dobro) and Ilya Toshinsky (electric guitar, banjo). Anita White (born July 18, 1958), known professionally as Lady A, is an American singer of blues, soul, funk, and gospel music. Career Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, she began singing at age five with her musical family, and her performance career began in the 1980s as a backup vocalist in a Motown cover band. She played in the group Lady A & the Baby Blues Funk band for 18 years and then went solo on tour in the Pacific Northwest and Mississippi Delta regions.
