Edna Flugrath
Edna Marie Flugrath (December 29, 1892 – April 6, 1966) was the eldest of three sisters who found fame as silent film stars. Early life Flugrath was the first born of Emil and Mary (née Dubois) Flugrath. Her father, a printer by trade, was the son of Polish-German immigrants and had at one time been considered a talented amateur athlete.''The Oakland Tribune'', October 2, 1921. Mary Dubois was born in New York. Some years later when their daughters were working on films, the Flugraths moved to the West Coast where they became popular on movie sets conversing with curious Hollywood tourists. Mary Flugrath died in Los Angeles in 1922 at the age of 55. Her husband died there 20 years later, aged 74. Career Flugrath began working on stage at a very early age appearing in vaudeville shows, legitimate theater and ballet. Augustus Phillips
Augustus Phillips (August 1, 1874 – September 29, 1944), was an American actor. He appeared in 134 films between 1910 and 1921. After 11 years of performing in stock theater, vision problems led Phillips to begin acting in films for the Edison Company on January 1, 1911. He appeared in J. Searle Dawley's 1910 production of ''Frankenstein'', playing Victor Frankenstein, as a young medical student. He was born in Rensselaer, Indiana, and died in London, England. Charles Stanton Ogle (June 5, 1865 – October 11, 1940) was an American stage and silent-film actor. He was the first actor to portray Frankenstein's monster in a motion picture in 1910 and played Long John Silver in ''Treasure Island'' in 1920. Biography Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Ogle is the son Joseph Ogle, was the son of Irish immigrants, and worked as a Methodist Minister. His mother, Anna C. Mast, was of German descent and used to work as a gold shop seller. Ogle attended the University of Illinois College of Law and practiced law for about two years while pursuing a Bachelor of Laws degree. Ogle initially performed in live theatre, making his first appearance on Broadway in 1905. Three years later, he embarked on a film career, initially working at Edison Studios in The Bronx, New York. Edison Studios was an American film production organization, owned by companies controlled by inventor and entrepreneur, Thomas Edison. The studio made close to 1,200 films, as part of the Edison Manufacturing Company (1894–1911) and then Thomas A. Edison, Inc. (1911–1918), until the studio's closing in 1918. Of that number, 54 were feature length, and the remainder were shorts. All of the company's films have fallen into the public domain because they were released before 1925.
