Ligier JS2 R
The Ligier JS2 R is a racing car manufactured by French automobile manufacturer Ligier. Designed to solely be destined for racing with no road-legal version planned, the car is a homage to the original Ligier JS2 introduced in 1972. Model information The JS2 R was introduced at the 2018 Paris Motor Show at the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company. It is inspired by the Ligier JS2 which was introduced in 1972 and was cited as the car having the best power-to-weight ratio of the time and superior driving dynamics. The original JS2 finished second at the 1975 24 Hours of Le Mans in its class. The JS2 R borrows many design cues from the JS2. While it is designed to be an easy to drive race car like the original, there is no confirmation about plans for a road-legal variant. Ligier (() is a French automobile and minibus maker created by former racing driver and rugby player Guy Ligier (1930–2015), specialized in the manufacturing of microcars. Ligier is best known for its involvement in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1976 and 1996. In collaboration with Automobiles Martini, the Ligier-Martini entity offered sports prototypes used in endurance or hillclimbing ( CN). Brembo S.p.A. is an Italian manufacturer of automotive brake systems, especially for high-performance cars and motorcycles. Its head office is in Curno, Bergamo, Italy. History Brembo was established in Paladina, Italy on January 11, 1961 by Emilio Bombassei and Italo Breda (father and uncle, respectively, to the current Chairman Alberto Bombassei). The company was named after the Brembo river, as Bombassei lived in a village on the coast of the river before moving to Milan. Abrest
Abrest (; oc, Abrèt) is a commune in the Allier department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of central France. The commune is one of the 37 communes in the urban area of Vichy and is also part of Vichy Auvergne countryside. Its inhabitants are called ''Abrestois'' or ''Abrestoises''. Ligier JS2
The Ligier JS2 is a mid-engined sports coupé that was built by Ligier in the French commune of Abrest near Vichy in the department of Allier between 1971 and 1975. Road-going and competition versions were built. Conception and predecessor Guy Ligier and racing teammate, business partner and close friend Jo Schlesser talked about together building a car that overcame the shortcomings of the cars they were driving. Following Schlesser's death Ligier retired from racing and established Automobiles Ligier in 1968. The JS2 was the company's second product, the first having been the JS1. That car was built on an aluminum chassis designed by Chief Engineer Michel Têtu with fibreglass bodywork by Frua. Sequential Manual Transmission
A sequential manual transmission, also known as a sequential gearbox, or a sequential transmission, is a type of non-synchronous manual transmission used mostly for motorcycles and racing cars. It produces faster shift times than traditional synchronized manual transmissions, and restricts the driver to selecting either the next or previous gear, in a successive order. Design A sequential manual transmission is unsynchronized, and allows the driver to select either the next gear (e.g. shifting from first gear to second gear) or the previous gear (e.g., shifting from third gear to second gear), operated either via electronic paddle-shifters mounted behind the steering wheel or with a sequential shifter.
