''Lightning, the White Stallion'' is a 1986 American drama film directed by William A. Levey and written by Harry Alan Towers. The film stars Mickey Rooney, Susan George, Isabel García Lorca, Billy Wesley, Martin Charles Warner and Françoise Pascal. The film was released in August 1986, by Cannon Film Distributors. Plot The horse of wealthy gambler Barney Ingram, Cloverdale III, is stolen by creditor Emmet Fallon. Harry Alan Towers
Harry Alan Towers (19 October 1920 – 31 July 2009) was a British radio and independent film producer and screenwriter. He wrote numerous screenplays for the films he produced, often under the pseudonym Peter Welbeck. He produced over 80 feature films and continued to write and produce well into his eighties. Towers was married to the actress Maria Rohm, who appeared in many of his films. Background The son of a theatrical agent, Towers was born in Wandsworth, and became a child actor after attending the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. He then became a prolific radio writer while serving in the Royal Air Force during World War II becoming head of the RAF radio unit on the British Forces Broadcasting Service attaining the rank of Pilot Officer. Mickey Rooney (born Joseph Yule Jr.; other pseudonym Mickey Maguire; September 23, 1920 – April 6, 2014) was an American actor. Robert Gage (March 20, 1952–June 12, 2019) was an American equestrian show jumping rider and coach. He was named West Coast Rider of the Year four times, received the American Grandprix Association's Rider of the Year Award two years in a row, and was a member of the U.S. World Cup team three times. Gage was banned on February 1, 2019, by the United States Center for SafeSport after it found that he had engaged in sexual misconduct with minors. On June 12, 2019, he died of suicide.
