Lightnin' (1930 Film)
''Lightnin is a 1930 American pre-Code comedy film directed by Henry King and written by S. N. Behrman and Sonya Levien. The film stars Will Rogers, Louise Dresser, Joel McCrea, Helen Cohan, Jason Robards Sr. and Luke Cosgrave. The film was released on December 7, 1930, by Fox Film Corporation. It is a remake of the 1925 silent film, which was directed by John Ford, which itself was based on the 1918 play. Plot Lightnin' has a young man come to his hotel to find his wife who is seeking a divorce. He talks to the two who obviously are in love, but they get in a tiff and the young man says he is leaving. Lightnin' whispers to wife to call him back, and then he has a sit down heart to heart talk and the couple leave with their marriage saved. Henry King (director)
Henry King (January 24, 1886June 29, 1982) was an American actor and film director. Widely considered one of the finest and most successful filmmakers of his era, King was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Director, and directed seven films nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture. Biography Before coming to film, King worked as an actor in various repertoire theatres and first started to take small film roles in 1912. Between 1913 and 1925, he appeared as an actor in approximately sixty films. He directed for the first time in 1915 and grew to become one of the most commercially successful Hollywood directors of the 1920s and '30s. He was twice nominated for the Best Director Oscar. John Ford
John Martin Feeney (February 1, 1894 – August 31, 1973), known professionally as John Ford, was an American film director and naval officer. Goodee Montgomery
Goodee Montgomery (born Virginia Lawhead; 1906–1978) was an American actress and musician. She was the niece of the actor David C. Montgomery. She also performed in vaudeville. Montgomery was born Virginia Lawhead in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her father, Rex Lawhead, managed a theater in Decatur, Illinois. Her parents divorced when she was 15 years old. Her stage name was a combination of a pet name her uncle used for her, Goodee, and her mother's maiden name, Montgomery. Montgomery sang and played banjo and ukulele. Rex Bell (born George Francis Beldam; October 16, 1903 – July 4, 1962) was an American actor and politician. Bell primarily appeared in Western films during his career. He also appeared in the 1930 movie ''True to the Navy'', starring Clara Bow; Bell and Bow married the following year.
