"Light Surrounding You" is the second single by alternative rock band, Evermore, taken from their second studio album, ''Real Life'' (June 2006). It was written by Dann Hume, the group's drummer. The record is co-produced by Jon Hume. The song was released in October 2006 and peaked at No. 15 on the RIANZ Singles Chart in New Zealand and number one on the ARIA Singles Chart, making it Evermore's most successful single in Australia. It was the first single by a New Zealand artist to top the Australian charts since " How Bizarre" by OMC in 1996. Dann Hume explained that the song is about "someone who had all the potential in the world but they didn’t believe in themselves". The music video features Australian actress Emily Browning. Evermore are a band originally from Feilding, New Zealand, now based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The band consists of brothers Jon (guitar, vocals, album production), Peter (keyboards, bass, vocals) and Dann Hume (drums, guitar, vocals). Katherine Leigh Ritchie is an Australian actress, radio presenter and children's author, she remains best known for her long-running role as original character Sally Fletcher on the television soap opera '' Home and Away'', for which she won two Gold Logie awards. Peter Hume (musician)
Peter Elisha Hume (born Peter Elisha Cobbe, 4 September 1985) is a New Zealand singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and art director; originally from Whangaparaoa. Hume is the middle of three brothers (with Dann Hume and Jon Hume) who make up the multi-platinum award winning band Evermore. Hume has contributed to songs for Evermore and also sung lead vocals on some of the band's album tracks. In 2008, Hume was shortlisted for the ''Cleo'' Bachelor of the Year award. Sally Louise Fletcher (also Copeland and Keating) is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera ''Home and Away'', played by Kate Ritchie. She made her first screen appearance during the serial's pilot episode, which was broadcast on 17 January 1988. Sally became the longest running original female cast member.
