Liga Occidental De Béisbol Profesional
The Liga Occidental de Béisbol Profesional (Western Professional Baseball League) was a baseball circuit that operated between 1954 and 1963 in Maracaibo, the capital city in the Venezuela state of Zulia. The league played their games at the old olympic stadium of Maracaibo. The LOBP started to operate as a four-team league on December 7, 1954, and was managed by local entrepreneurs under the guidance of George Trautman, an American baseball executive, who also helped the league to join organized baseball to become a professional baseball circuit. Innovations Throughout the years, the league modified the number of games in the schedule and adopted playoffs. Graham Edward Moore (January 18, 1899 – February 10, 1976) was an American professional baseball player who played second base and outfield from 1923 to 1934 in the Major Leagues. Baseball career Moore nearly usurped Pie Traynor's job as the starting third baseman for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1924, his rookie season.Forr, James, and David Proctor. George Warren "Barney" Schultz (August 15, 1926 – September 6, 2015) was an American professional baseball player and coach. He was a knuckleball-throwing pitcher in the Major Leagues for all or parts of seven seasons between 1955 and 1965 for the St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Tigers and Chicago Cubs. Claiborne Henry Bryant (November 16, 1911 – April 9, 1999) was a pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1935 through 1940 for the Chicago Cubs. Petroleros De Cabimas
The Petroleros de Cabimas was a baseball club that played from 1991 through 1995 in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League. The Petroleros joined the league as an expansion team in the Western Division and played its home games at Estadio Víctor Davalillo in Cabimas, a town on the shore of Maracaibo Lake in Zulia State. The Petroleros performed poorly during their four seasons in the league, always ending last in the four-team Western Division, and never reached the playoffs.
