Liga Mexicana Élite
The Liga Mexicana Elite de Hockey (LMEH) was the highest level ice hockey competition in Mexico. The league comprised four clubs, all based in Mexico City. Overview The Mexican League Elite de Hockey, LME, Ice Hockey was inaugurated on 2 October 2010 with the aim to establish Mexico as a high-level international competitor in ice hockey. The participation of the best players in Mexico could serve as encouragement for those players at lower levels of the sport in Mexico and eventually play on the Mexico national team at international competitions against high quality foreign teams. The first League season (2010–2011) started with 4 teams: Mayan Astronomers, Aztec Eagle Warriors, Teotihucan Priests and Zapotec Totems, which were integrated through a draft, where players are ranked in categories "AAA" "AA", "A" and then, each team chose their players in succession, so that 4 sets have the same competitive level. The Teotihuacan Priests are a semi-professional ice hockey team in Mexico City, Mexico. They play in the Liga Mexicana Élite. History The club founded in 2010, and joined the LME for the 2010-11 season. They finished in third place in the regular season, and were playoff champions by defeating the Aztec Eagle Warriors in the semifinals, and the Mayan Astronomers in the finals. Derek Nachimow scored all three goals for the Priests in the final. The Mayan Astronomers are a semi-professional ice hockey team in Mexico City, Mexico. They play in the Liga Mexicana Élite. History The Astronomers were founded in 2010, and began playing in the LME. They finished in first place in the regular season, but lost in the finals of the playoffs, two games to one, to the Teotihuacan Priests. Mexico National Ice Hockey Team
The Mexican national ice hockey team ( es, Selección Mexicana de hockey sobre hielo) is the national men's ice hockey team of Mexico. The team is governed by the Mexico Ice Hockey Federation (FDMHSH) ( es, Federación Deportiva de Mexico de Hockey sobre Hielo) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Mexico is currently ranked 35th in the world rankings and compete in the IIHF World Championship Division II Group B. History Mexico joined the IIHF on 30 April 1985.
