Liga I (women's Basketball)
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. The Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal (''Professional Football League''), also known by its acronym LPF, is a Romanian governing body that runs the Liga I, the top professional division of the Romanian football league system. Fotbal Club FCSB (), commonly known as FCSB, is a Romanian professional Association football, football club based in Bucharest. 2006–07 Liga I
The 2006–07 Liga I was the eighty-ninth season of Liga I, the top-level football league of Romania. Season began on 28 July 2006 and ended on 23 May 2007. Teams Eighteen teams played in the 2006–07 season. Four teams were from Moldova, four clubs from Transylvania, one from Dobruja and nine from Wallachia four of them coming from the country's capital city Bucharest. Pandurii Târgu Jiu had been relegated at the end of the previous season but they re-entered Liga I at the expense of Sportul Studenţesc which has been relegated to Liga II due to financial problems. They relegated together with FC Bacău, who finished 16th last season. UEFA Coefficient
In European football, the UEFA coefficients are statistics based in weighted arithmetic means used for ranking and seeding teams in club and international competitions. Introduced in 1979 for men's football tournaments, and after applied in women's football and futsal, the coefficients are calculated by UEFA, who administer football within Europe, as well as Armenia, Israel and the Asian parts of some transcontinental countries. The 1909–10 Divizia A was the first season of Divizia A, the top-level football league of Romania. Promotion And Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. In some leagues, playoffs or qualifying rounds are also used to determine rankings. This process can continue through several levels of divisions, with teams being exchanged between adjacent divisions. The Romanian football league system, also known as the football pyramid, refers to the system in Romanian club football that consists of several football leagues bound together hierarchically by promotion and relegation. The first three leagues are organized at a national level and consist of fully professional teams.
