''Life of Pi'' is a play based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Yann Martel adapted for the stage by Lolita Chakrabarti. The play premiered in June 2019 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield before transferring to the Wyndham's Theatre in London's West End in November 2021. The play won five Laurence Olivier Awards (including Best New Play), five UK Theatre Awards (including Best New Play) and Best New Play at the WhatsOnStage Awards. Lolita Chakrabarti (born 1 June 1969) is a British actress and writer. Early life Chakrabarti was born in Kingston upon Hull, England, to Bengali Hindu parents from India on 1 June 1969. 2022 Laurence Olivier Awards
The 2022 Laurence Olivier Awards were held on 10 April 2022 at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted by Jason Manford. They were the first Oliviers to be held since 2020 due to the complete shutdown of UK theatres in 2020/2021 as a result of lockdowns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to this, the eligibility period was expanded from 19 February 2020 to 22 February 2022. 2020 WhatsOnStage Awards
The 20th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards concert and ceremony took place on Sunday, 1 March 2020 at the Prince of Wales Theatre. It was hosted by theatre star Jodie Prenger and Tom Read Wilson and featured performances from all five nominees for Best New Musical, as well as the cast of ''The Color Purple''. Habib Nasib Nader
Habib Nasib Nader (born 1979) is a British actor. He is the recipient of a Laurence Olivier Award, having won Best Supporting Actor with a team of six others for operating and voicing the tiger in '' Life of Pi''. They are the first puppeteers to win this award. Nader was in the original cast at the Sheffield Crucible before moving to the Wyndham's Theatre on the West End.
