The Royal Life Guards ( da, Den Kongelige Livgarde) is a mechanized infantry regiment of the Danish Army, founded in 1658 by Frederick III of Denmark, King Frederik III. The primary task is to provide a number of soldiers from the Guard Company (Denmark), Guard Company to serve as a Royal Guard, guard/ceremonial unit to the Danish monarchy, while training the Royal Guards for various functions in the mobilisation force. Until its disbandment, the Royal Horse Guards (Denmark), Royal Horse Guards ( da, Livgarden til Hest), served the role as the mounted guard/ceremonial unit, afterwards the role was taken over by Guard Hussar Regiment Mounted Squadron. The Life Guards () was the senior formation of the King of France's Household Cavalry within the ''Maison militaire du roi de France''. History Foundation The oldest unit in the ''Garde du Corps'' was the Company of Scottish Archers, later just the 1st Scottish Company or ''Garde Écossaise'', formed in 1419 from Scots that fought for the French during Hundred Years' War. This unit was created at an uncertain date between 1423 and 1448. Subsequently, two further French companies were raised. A final company was established on 17 March 1515. The Life Guards ( sv, Livgardet, designation LG) is a combined Swedish Army cavalry/infantry regiment. Its responsibilities include the defence of Stockholm as well as provision of the royal guard of honour for the King of Sweden and the Stockholm Palace. The Royal Swedish Cavalry Band ( sv, Livgardets dragonmusikkår, LDK) is one of three professional military bands in the Swedish Armed Forces. The band traces its ancestry back to the 1500s when King Gustav Vasa raised his first regiment of horse. Today LDK is one of few mounted bands in the world. The band rides at the head of the Life Guards through Stockholm when mounting the King's Guard and the parade is considered one of Sweden's main tourist attractions. Life Guards of Horse ( sv, Livgardet till häst, K 1) was a Swedish Army cavalry regiment, first raised in 1770. It saw service for two centuries, before being amalgamated with the Life Regiment Dragoons (K 2) to form the Life Regiment of Horse (K 1) in 1928. History The regiment was raised on 20 February 1770 by Jacob Magnus Sprengtporten as the Finnish Light Dragoon Corps (''Finska lätta dragonkåren''). The unit was set up as a regular dragoon corps in Nyland County, Finland as a reinforcement of the border guard along the Kymmene River. The corps then consisted of 150 men and was based in Borgå. The '' Imperial Guards' Horse Regiment '' (in Russian:'' Конный лейб-гвардии полк '') was a cavalry regiment of the Imperial Guard (Russia), Imperial guard of Russian Empire. The regiment was founded in the reign of Peter I of Russia, Peter the Great and was disbanded after the October Revolution in 1917. Its annual feast day was 25 March. A lifeguard is a rescuer who supervises the safety and rescue of swimmers, surfers, and other water sports participants such as in a swimming pool, water park, beach, spa, river and lake. Lifeguards are trained in swimming and CPR/ AED first aid, certified in water rescue using a variety of aids and equipment depending on requirements of their particular venue. In some areas, lifeguards are part of the emergency services system to incidents and in some communities, lifeguards may function as the primary EMS provider.
