Life (Boy George And Culture Club Album)
''Life'' is the sixth studio album by British band Culture Club, credited to "Boy George and Culture Club". It was released on 26 October 2018 through BMG. It was Culture Club's first studio album since 1999's ''Don't Mind If I Do''. Background and composition After the band reformed in 2014, the album originally began as ''Tribes'', a project that the band offered through PledgeMusic that was initially set to be released in 2015, then early 2016 through the band's own label, Different Man Music. ''Tribes'' was recorded in Spain, with a documentary titled ''From Karma to Calamity'' filmed and aired on BBC Four, and a tour planned that was later cancelled. The album itself was later shelved, with all those who pre-ordered the album refunded. In July 2018, it was announced that the album had been reworked as ''Life'', and was to be released on 26 October 2018. Boy George
George Alan O'Dowd (born 14 June 1961), known professionally as Boy George, is an English singer, songwriter, DJ, author and mixed media artist. Best known for his soulful voice and his androgynous appearance, Boy George has been the lead singer of the pop band Culture Club since the group's formation in 1981. He began his solo career in 1987. Boy George's music is often classified as blue-eyed soul, which is influenced by rhythm and blues and reggae. Boy George grew up in Eltham and was part of the New Romantic movement which emerged in the late 1970s to early 1980s. His look and style of fashion was greatly inspired by glam rock pioneers David Bowie and Marc Bolan. He formed the Culture Club with Roy Hay, Mikey Craig and Jon Moss in 1981. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. The charts are a record of the highest selling songs and albums in various genres in Australia. ARIA became the official Australian music chart in June 1988, succeeding the Kent Music Report, which had been Australia's national music sales charts since 1974. Dan Parry
Dan Parry is a British Mix/Recording engineer. His career began in 2001 working at Soul II Soul Studios in Camden Town, before joining Metropolis studios in 2004. Progressing through the ranks at Metropolis Studios Parry eventually became full-time assistant engineer to Mix Engineer, Tom Elmhirst who was based at Metropolis at the time. Parry spent the next five years assisting Elmhirst on artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, and Mark Ronson. In 2010 Lady Gaga's ''The Fame Monster'' LP was nominated for a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Parry's involvement on a few tracks on the album (credited as "Engineer, Tracking") was recognised in the nomination. The album did not win in this category. The London Chamber Orchestra (LCO) is a professional chamber orchestra based in London in the United Kingdom. The name has also been used by historical ensembles dating back to 1921. LCO performs at small concert halls across London and has previously toured Asia, the UK, Europe and the United States. History The name London Chamber Orchestra was first used in 1921 by the English conductor, organist, pianist and composer Anthony Bernard. He conducted the first LCO performance, in the salon of No. 4 St. James's Square on 11 May 1921. Royal connection LCO's patron is Camilla, the Queen Consort. Youth (musician)
Martin Glover (born 27 December 1960), better known by his stage name Youth, is a British record producer and musician, best known as a founding member and bassist of the rock band Killing Joke. He is also a member of the Fireman, along with Paul McCartney. Early career Martin Glover was born on 27 December 1960 in Slough, at that point part of Buckinghamshire, England. He attended Kingham Hill School, an independent private school in Oxfordshire, where he met Alex Paterson, who would become a roadie for Glover's band Killing Joke, and later founder of The Orb. Naming himself "Youth" after the roots reggae Rastafari chanter Big Youth, in 1977 he joined punk rock band the Rage, who toured with the Adverts. Jon Moss
Jonathan Aubrey Moss (born 11 September 1957) is an English drummer, best known as a member of the 1980s new wave group Culture Club. He has also played with other bands, including London, the Nips, the Damned and Adam and the Ants. Early life Moss was born in Clapham Jewish Boys Home at Wandsworth, South London, and was adopted when six months old by Rosetta (née Goldsmith, b. 1929) and Lionel Moss (b. 1927, d. 1999), a couple of Jewish ancestry. His father owned a clothing store called ''Alkit'', located at Cambridge Circus. He grew up in Hampstead, attending Arnold House School (1962–1970) and Highgate School (1970–1975). During Moss' childhood, music began to have an important role in his life, and he would play well-known songs on his family's piano. Mikey Craig
Michael Emile "Mikey" Craig (born 15 February 1960) is a British musician and DJ of Jamaican descent, best known as the bassist of the pop/soul/new wave group Culture Club. Craig's group Culture Club became one of the most successful bands of the 1980s, selling millions of albums. In 1988, he released a solo single entitled "I'm a Believer", which failed to make an impact. Craig was an executive producer, in the mid-1990s, for his own dance label, SLAMM records. Craig continues to tour with Culture Club and its original members Boy George, Roy Hay, and Jon Moss. Craig has also occasionally performed with Kid Creole and the Coconuts during their UK shows. Roy Hay (musician)
Roy Ernest Hay (born 12 August 1961) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of the new wave band Culture Club. Hay, a trained pianist since the age of five, replaced founding member Johnny Suede in 1981. Some of Hay's musical influences were Stevie Wonder, The Isley Brothers and Led Zeppelin. Before his involvement with Culture Club, Hay was a hairdresser in his native Essex. It was during Culture Club's beginnings that Hay met Alison Green. The two married in 1982. According to the "Culture Club" episode the VH-1 series ''Behind the Music'', Hay assisted Boy George in giving up heroin. The singer suffered the painful withdrawal symptoms closely attended by Hay in his Essex home. Following Culture Club, Hay formed another band, called This Way Up, with singer Robinson Reid.
