''Lieutenant Daring R.N.'' is a 1935 British adventure film directed by Reginald Denham and starring Hugh Williams, Geraldine Fitzgerald and Frederick Lloyd. It was made by Butcher's Film Service at Cricklewood Studios. It revived a popular character of the silent era, Lieutenant Bob Daring of the Royal Navy who featured in a series of productions made by British and Colonial Films British and Colonial Films was a British company making predominantly silent films in London between 1908 and 1924. Reginald Denham
Reginald Denham (10 January 1894 – 4 February 1983) was an English writer, theatre and film director, actor and film producer. Biography Reginald H. F. Denham was born in London, England, in 1894. He spent a good part of his career directing Broadway theatre, with a career spanning from the melodrama ''Rope's End'' (1929) by Patrick Hamilton, to the courtroom drama ''Hostile Witness'' (1966). In 1930 he produced the First World War drama '' Suspense'' in the West End. He was married to Irish actress Moyna Macgill (1919–1924), English actress Lilian Oldland, and American actress and writer Mary Orr (from 1947 until his death). While they were married, Denham and Orr were writing partners. His daughter with Macgill, Isolde Denham, married actor Peter Ustinov when they were both 19. Edward Ernest Butcher (7 April 1885 – 8 June 1965) was a British actor, on stage from 1935, and with many film and TV appearances. He was the second husband of the actress Muriel George, and stepfather to her son, the critic John Davenport. He appeared in the original production of J.B. Priestley's play ''When We Are Married'' at St. Martin's Theatre London, in 1938; and reprised his performance in the film version, in 1943.
