Lier, Belgium
Lier (; french: Lierre, ) is a municipality located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. The city centre is surrounded by the river ''Nete'', around which it grew. In 2018, Lier had a total population of 35,712. The total area is 49.70 km making a population density (PD) of 720 per km. Lier is known for its beers (which include Caves (beer), Caves), its patron saint Gummarus, St. Gummarus and ''Lierse vlaaikes'' cake. It is also home to the world headquarters of Van Hool, a global bus and coach manufacturer. Lier's two principal football clubs are K Lyra-Lierse Berlaar, K. Lier is a municipality in Viken county, Norway. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Lierbyen. The municipality of Lier was established on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The area Åssiden was transferred from Lier to the neighboring municipality of Drammen on 1 July 1951. Norway's longest indoor shopping center, Liertoppen, is located in Lierskogen. The newspaper ''Lierposten'' is published in Lier. De Lier
De Lier () is a village in the Dutch province of South Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Westland, and lies about 5 km north of Maassluis. It also lies about below sea level. The village of De Lier obtained its name from the name of an old river called . De Lier used to be a separate municipality. On 26 March 1963 it was granted their coat of arms and on 14 April 1965, it adopted their modern-day flag. On 1 January 2004, it merged with Naaldwijk, 's-Gravenzande, Monster, and Wateringen to form the municipality of Westland. The former municipality covered an area of 8.93 square kilometres. In 2001, De Lier had 9415 inhabitants. In 2003, De Lier had 11,400 inhabitants.
