Liechtenstein At The 2010 Winter Olympics
Liechtenstein sent a delegation to compete at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada from 12–28 February 2010. The delegation consisted of seven athletes, two alpine skiers and five bobsledders. The Liechtenstein team did not win any medals at this Olympics. Alpine skiing *Tina Weirather did not compete due to injury suffered on 23 January 2010. Liechtenstein Olympic Committee
Liechtenstein Olympic Committee (german: Liechtensteinisches Olympisches Komitee) is the National Olympic Committee representing Liechtenstein. Before the organisation was renamed in 2013 it was called "Liechtensteinischer Olympischer Sportverband" (LOSV). Establishment The motive to establish a National Olympic Committee for Liechtenstein was the wish to participate in the Summer Olympic Games and Winter Olympic Games in Germany in the year 1936. Through the engagement of Baron Eduard von Falz-Fein the first NOC of Liechtenstein was founded to meet the formal requirements given by the IOC for the participation in the Olympic Games. This step was successful and for the first time a delegation of two athletes, three shooters and one cyclist was sent to Berlin in the summer to participate in their first Olympic Games for Liechtenstein. Michael Klingler (born 6 February 1983 in Grabs, St. Gallen) is a Swiss-born bobsledder for Liechtenstein who has competed since 2003. Christina "Tina" Weirather (born 24 May 1989) is a retired Liechtensteiner World Cup alpine ski racer. She won a bronze medal in Super-G for Liechtenstein at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Racing career Weirather made her World Cup debut at age 16 in October 2005 and had nine victories and 41 podiums through her retirement in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The men's super-G competition of the Vancouver 2010 Olympics was held at Whistler Creekside in Whistler, British Columbia, on Friday, February 19.
