Liechtenstein Castle
Liechtenstein Castle (german: Burg Liechtenstein) is a privately owned castle near Maria Enzersdorf in Lower Austria, bordering Vienna. It is on the edge of the '' Wienerwald'' (Vienna Woods). The castle, originally built during the 12th century, was destroyed by the Ottomans in the siege of Vienna in 1529, and again in the Battle of Vienna in 1683, and it remained in ruins until 1884, when it was rebuilt with the help of architect Carl Gangolf Kayser. Liechtenstein (German for "bright stone") Castle is the place of origin of the House of Liechtenstein, the ruling family of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The family owned the castle from at least 1140 until the 13th century, and again from 1808 to the present. Today, the castle hosts the Nestroy Theatre Festival, which is held annually during the summer months. Vaduz Castle
Vaduz Castle (German: ''Schloss Vaduz'') is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein, which it overlooks from an adjacent hilltop. History The former owners, who were presumably also the builders, were the counts of Werdenberg-Sargans. Johann Nepomuk Nestroy
Johann Nepomuk Eduard Ambrosius Nestroy (; 7 December 1801 – 25 May 1862) was a singer, actor and playwright in the popular Austrian tradition of the Biedermeier period and its immediate aftermath. He participated in the 1848 revolutions and his work reflects the new liberal spirit then spreading throughout Europe. Career Nestroy was born in Vienna, where he was a law student from 1817 to 1822, before abandoning his studies to become a singer.
