Lieberman In Love
''Lieberman in Love'' is a 1995 American short film directed by Christine Lahti. It won an Oscar in 1996 for Best Live Action Short Subject. A short story by W. P. Kinsella, "Lieberman in Love", was the basis for the film. The Oscar win came as a surprise to Kinsella, who, watching the award telecast from home, had no idea the film had been made and released. He was not listed in the film's credits or acknowledged by Lahti in her acceptance speech. A full-page advertisement ran in ''Variety'' apologizing to Kinsella for the error. Plot At a resort in Hawaii, wealthy Joe Lieberman is attracted to a guest named Shaleen, who turns out to be a prostitute. They begin a professional relationship, which continues even after Joe develops a romantic interest in a married woman, Kate, who sells him a condominium. Christine Ann Lahti (born April 4, 1950) is an American actress and filmmaker. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 1984 film '' Swing Shift''. Her other film roles include '' ...And Justice for All'' (1979), ''Housekeeping'' (1987), '' Running on Empty'' (1988), '' Leaving Normal'' (1992), and ''A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood'' (2019). For her directorial debut with the 1995 short film '' Lieberman in Love'', she won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. Lahti made her Broadway debut in 1980 as a replacement in ''Loose Ends'', and went on to star in the Broadway productions of ''Present Laughter'' (1982) and ''The Heidi Chronicles'' (1989). The Witness (1992 Film)
''The Witness'' is a short film (19 minutes) directed by Chris Gerolmo, starring Gary Sinise and Elijah Wood. Plot Set in a Nazi concentration camp, The Witness shows a series of repeating set of psychological actions. Gary Sinise plays a guard, whose daily routine is to corral Jewish prisoners through a tunnel and into the gas chamber. Each day, as he performs this task, the guard is watched by a Jewish little boy (Elijah Wood), whose piercing stare unsettles him. He tries to shake this child's steady glare, day after day, until one night he steals into the barracks, finds the child and smothers him. Instead of being free of the accusing stare, another child has replaced the one he killed. ''The Witness'' was produced in 1992 in the United States and is in the German language. ''Field of Dreams'' is a 1989 American sports fantasy drama film written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, based on Canadian novelist W. P. Kinsella's 1982 novel '' Shoeless Joe''.
