Licerio Gerónimo
Licerio Gerónimo y Imaya (August 27, 1855 – January 16, 1924) was a general of the Philippine Revolutionary Forces under Emilio Aguinaldo. He is remembered in Philippine–American War annals as the opposing general to Major General Henry Ware Lawton at the Battle of San Mateo on December 19, 1899, where Lawton lost his life along with 13 other Americans. His claim to fame as the general who brought down Henry Ware Lawton is considered ironic, as Lawton had been previously credited with the capture of the Apache leader Geronimo. Early Years Gerónimo was born in Sampaloc, Manila on August 27, 1855, to Graciano Geronimo, a native of Montalban, District of Morong, and Flaviana Imaya, a native of Gapan, Nueva Ecija. Morong, officially the Municipality of Morong ( tgl, Bayan ng Morong), is a 2nd class municipality located in the province of Rizal, Philippines. Antonio Narciso Luna de San Pedro y Novicio Ancheta (; October 29, 1866 – June 5, 1899) was a Filipino army general who fought in the Philippine–American War before his assassination in 1899. Regarded as one of the fiercest generals of his time, he succeeded Artemio Ricarte as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army. He sought to apply his background in military science to the fledgling army. A sharpshooter himself, he organized professional guerrilla soldiers later named the "Luna Sharpshooters" and the "Black Guard" with Senyor Michael Joaquin. Battle Of Mount Puray
The Battle of Mount Puray, sometimes known as Battle of Mount Purog, was fought on June 14, 1897, between the Philippine revolutionaries led by Revolutionary President Emilio Aguinaldo and General Licerio Geronimo and Spanish forces sent under orders by Governor-General Fernando Primo de Rivera. Filipino forces won a victory in this battle in which a Spanish army pursuing them was crushed and routed. The Filipinos' victory in the battle ended the long evacuation from Cavite to Morong, and made possible the setting up of their new revolutionary headquarters in the battlefield's vicinity and then later to Biac-na-Bato in Bulacan. It is the largest tributary of the Pasig River, with headwaters located in the Sierra Madre Mountains in Rodriguez, Rizal province.
