Liberties College
Liberties College is an educational institution in Bull Alley Street, Dublin, Republic of Ireland. It offers further education courses, including Post Leaving Certificate courses. Bull Alley Street
Bull Alley Street () is a street in the medieval area of Dublin, Ireland. Location Bull Alley Street runs from Bride Street to the east to Patrick Street, Dublin, Patrick Street to the west, and parallel with Bride Road. Along the southern side of the street is St Patrick's Park. History This street first appears on maps of Dublin in 1680 as Bull Alley. It was part of the parish of St Nicholas Within. It is probable that the Street's name is derived from the name of a tavern or inn with a sign of a bull. In the late 1800s, the street had a large number of butchers, victuallers and other jobs associated with the meat industry. In the 1900s, the Dublin Corporation built a housing scheme on Bull Alley Street, designed by C. J. McCarthy. It was completed in 1904, and complemented the Iveagh Trust scheme adjacent. Post-Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses (Irish Language, Irish: Cúrsa Iar Ard-Teistiméarachta) are a set of courses and qualifications run in Republic of Ireland, Ireland for students who have finished their secondary education. The term refers to post-secondary education courses which are not found within the higher education sector, but the further education sector in Ireland. The majority of students who enrol on a PLC course are under 23, but mature students are also welcome, and increasingly enrolling on such courses. Edwardian architecture is a Neo-Baroque architectural style that was popular in the British Empire during the Edwardian era (1901–1910). National Inventory Of Architectural Heritage
The National Inventory of Architectural Heritage (NIAH) maintains a central database of the architectural heritage of the Republic of Ireland covering the period since 1700 in complement to the Archaeological Survey of Ireland, which focuses on archaeological sites of the pre-1700 period. As of 2022, there are over 50,000 records in the database, including buildings, monuments, street furniture and other structures. It does not cover Northern Ireland. Buildings recorded in the database are given a rating, either national or regional. Formation The NIAH is a unit of the Heritage Division within the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. The unit was founded in 1990 to address the obligations of the Convention for the Protection of the Architectural Heritage of Europe of which Ireland is signatory.
