Liberation Music is an Australian record company and label, started in 1999 by Michael Gudinski and Warren Costello, based in Melbourne. Its stated aim is to find, nurture and then to develop new talent for a world market while remaining independent in the process. Liberation has a sub-label called Liberator Music, which is a distributor for foreign artists and labels such as Childish Gambino, Glassnote Records, BMG Rights Management, and Ipecac Recordings. History Following the 1998 sale of Gudinski's Mushroom Records to Festival Records, Liberation Music was formed to continue to satisfy Michael Gudinski's desire to promote and develop Australian Music. Mushroom Group is the largest independent music and entertainment company in Australia. It comprises more than two dozen companies. It has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Auckland with over 200 employees. History The Mushroom Group was founded in 1972 in Melbourne by a 20-year-old Michael Gudinski with the formation of Mushroom Records, followed shortly afterwards with the addition of Mushroom Music Publishing and Premier Artists booking agency in 1973. In 1978, the Group expanded to include The Harbour Agency, a Sydney-based booking agency which was Mushroom's first foray into the city. British India (band)
British India are an Australian rock band from Melbourne. The band is made up of lead vocalist and guitarist Declan Melia, guitarist Nic Wilson, bassist Will Drummond and drummer Matt O'Gorman. In 2019, Jack Tosi replaced Nic Wilson as a touring member of the band. They have released six studio albums. History Formation and Early Shows 2003 - 2006 The members of British India met in 2003 in high school at St. Bede's College, in Melbourne, Victoria. Snakadaktal
Snakadaktal was an Australian five-piece indie pop/dream pop band, which formed in 2009 in Melbourne, Victoria and broke up on 16 March 2014. The band consists of Sean Heathcliff (guitar, vocals, synthesizers), Phoebe Cockburn (vocals, synthesizers) Joseph Clough (guitar), Jarrah Mccarty-Smith (bass), and Barna Nemeth (drums). History Snakadaktal were named the Triple J Unearthed High winners for 2011. Following their success on Triple J, the band signed a record deal with I Oh You Records. On 25 November 2011, Snakadaktal released their debut EP ''Snakadaktal'' with I Oh You. Melody Pool
Melody Pool is an Australian country-folk musician from Kurri Kurri, New South Wales. She first stepped on stage with her father, country musician Alby Pool, when she was 8 years old, and was performing solo aged 9. During her teens Pool played in her father's band, and began releasing her own music starting with the EP ''Heart to Heart Talk'' in 2008. This was followed by another EP ''Awake, You’re All Around Me'' in 2011, before she crowdfunded money to travel to Nashville in September 2012 to record her debut album ''The Hurting Scene''. Produced by Brad Jones and Jace Everett, the album was recorded in six days and released in 2013. Initially released independently, Pool was then signed to Liberation Music and Mushroom Music Publishing who reissued the album in July 2013. Little Red were an Australian pop and rock band formed in 2005 by Adrian Beltrame on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Dominic Byrne on guitar and vocals, Quang Dinh on bass guitar and vocals, Tom Hartney on harmonica, keyboard and vocals, and Taka Honda on drums. They issued two albums, '' Listen to Little Red'' (28 June 2008) and ''Midnight Remember'' (September 2010). The second album peaked at No. 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The Temper Trap
The Temper Trap are an Australian indie rock band formed in 2005 by Dougy Mandagi, Jonathon Aherne, and Toby Dundas. In 2008, the group relocated from Melbourne to London. The band released their debut album '' Conditions'' in June 2009 to favourable reviews and commercial success; it peaked at No. 9 on the ARIA Albums Chart and into the top 30 on the UK Albums Chart. Seeker Lover Keeper
Seeker Lover Keeper is an Australian indie rock music supergroup formed by Sarah Blasko, Sally Seltmann and Holly Throsby in August 2010. The trio each have separate solo careers as singer-songwriters. The group's first album, which was self-titled, was released on 3 June 2011 through Dew Process/UMA. On 12 June 2011, the album debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA Albums Chart and has been certified platinum. The album was a surprise success, peaking higher than any former release from Blasko, Seltmann or Throsby. Julia Jacklin (born 30 August 1990) is an Australian singer-songwriter from the Blue Mountains. Jacklin's musical style has been described as indie pop, indie folk, and alternative country. Josef Ignatius Salvat (born 28 October 1988) is an Australian singer and songwriter. He had his first international success after the release of his EP ''In Your Prime'' in 2014, which included a cover of Rihanna's song "Diamonds" that reached #2 in France and was used in a commercial by Sony under the Bravia brand. Salvat has released music in English and French, and has collaborated with Gryffin and Paloma Faith, writing the song "If Loving You Was Easy" for her album Infinite Things. Husky are an indie folk band from Melbourne, Australia. They have opened for Neil Young, Devendra Banhart, Gotye, The Shins. History 2007-2013: ''Quiet Little Rage'' & ''Forever So'' In 2007, the band recorded and mixed an album at Sing Sing Recording Studios in Melbourne, with all songs written and produced by Husky Gawenda.
