Liberal Environmental Party ( cs, Liberálně-ekologická strana, LES) is a Green liberalism, green-liberal list of political parties in the Czech Republic, political party in the Czech Republic. It was established by Martin Bursík as a split from Green Party (Czech Republic), Green Party. The party is pro-European and supports Václav Havel's legacy. History The LES participated in the 2014 European Parliament election in the Czech Republic, 2014 European Parliament election but failed to win any seats, receiving 7544 votes (0.49%). The party announced on 12 July 2017 that it would participate in the 2017 Czech legislative election, 2017 legislative election on the electoral lists of TOP 09. Martin Bursík
Martin Bursík (born 12 August 1959 in Prague) is a Czech Republic, Czech politician. Bursík has twice served as Ministry of the Environment (Czech Republic), Minister of the Environment and is also former chairman of the Green Party (Czech Republic), Green Party. Early life and education In the 1980s, Bursík studied environmental engineering at the Charles University. In June 1989, he joined the dissident movement and signed the declaration of the anti-communist movement. During the Velvet Revolution in November 1989, he was one of the founders of the Civic Forum. The Party for the Open Society, Civic Movement, which emerged from the Civic Forum and would later become the Party for the Open Society, nominated him as vice-chairman and he was elected into parliament. After the breakup of the Civic Movement, Bursík switched to the Free Democrats. He served as the Minister of the Environment under Josef Tošovský for a few months in 1998. List Of Political Parties In The Czech Republic
This is a list of political parties in the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic has a multi-party system. Due to the electoral system used, a limited number of parties are successful in each parliamentary election. Parliamentary parties There are currently seven parties in the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, Chamber of Deputies – ANO 2011, the Civic Democratic Party (Czech Republic), Civic Democratic Party (ODS), Mayors and Independents (STAN), the Christian and Democratic Union – Czechoslovak People's Party (KDU-ČSL), Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD), TOP 09 and the Czech Pirate Party (Pirates). All of these parties except the SPD also have at least one seat in the Senate of the Czech Republic, Senate.
