Liane Augustin
Liane Augustin (18 November 1927 – 30 April 1978) was a German Austrian singer and actress. Biography Liane Augustin was born in Berlin, Germany in 1927. Her postwar successes as a nightclub singer in the Viennese Boheme Bar led to numerous recordings, mostly for the Vanguard label; she was often joined by her regular accompanists, the Boheme Bar Trio, which included Michael Danzinger as pianist, Laszlo Gatti on guitar, and Willi Fantel as bassist. She also made frequent radio broadcasts and a number of international live performances. She was chosen to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 with the song " Die ganze Welt braucht Liebe" ''(The Whole World Needs Love)''. The song finished 5th out of 10 songs, and gained a total of 8 points. She died in 1978, in Vienna, and was memorialized on 26 May 2009 as a co-namesake with Marx Augustin of the Augustinplatz in Vienna, a public square bounded by the Neustiftgasse, Kirchengasse and Kellermanngasse. Liane de Pougy (born Anne-Marie Chassaigne, 2 July 1869 – 26 December 1950), was a Folies Bergère vedette and dancer renowned as one of Paris's most beautiful and notorious courtesans. Early life and marriage Anne-Marie Chassaigne was born in La Flèche, Sarthe, France, the daughter of Pierre Blaise Eugène Chassaigne and his Spanish-French wife Aimée Lopez. She had an older brother, Pierre (1862–1921). She was raised in a nunnery. At the age of 16, she ran off with Joseph Armand Henri Pourpe, a naval officer, whom she married after getting pregnant. The baby was named Marc Pourpe. De Pougy described herself as a terrible mother, saying, "My son was like a living doll given to a little girl." She also admitted she would have preferred the baby to be a girl ‘because of the dresses and the curly hair’. Liane (river)
The Liane is a 38 km long river in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. It rises in Quesques and flows into the English Channel at Boulogne-sur-Mer. Other communes along its length include: Selles, Brunembert, Bournonville, Alincthun, Crémarest, Wirwignes, Questrecques, Samer, Carly, Hesdigneul-lès-Boulogne, Isques, Saint-Léonard, Hesdin-l'Abbé, Condette, Saint-Étienne-au-Mont, and Outreau. Geography The Liane flows for a length of 38.2 km. It rises at Quesques, then flows through the communes of Bournonville, Wirwignes, Questrecques, Carly, Hesdigneul, Isques and Saint-Léonard. Liane Marie Cartman is a fictional character in the adult animated television series ''South Park''. She is the single mother of main character Eric, who raises him in the fictional town of South Park, Colorado. Liane Marianne Tooth, OAM (born 13 March 1962 in Sydney, New South Wales) is a retired field hockey forward, who twice won the gold medal with the Australian Women's Hockey Team, best known as the ''Hockeyroos'', at the Summer Olympics: in Seoul (1988) and in Atlanta, Georgia (1996). Tooth was the first female hockey player to compete in four Olympic Games (1984 to 1996). She began playing field hockey at school in Sydney. Liane Bahler (22 January 1982 – 4 July 2007) was a German professional racing cyclist. Bahler was born in Gotha, and started her professional career in 2001. In that year she finished third in the sixth stage of the Tour de Bretagne. In 2002, she won a stage in the Tour de l'Aude. She joined the Nürnberger Versicherung cycling team in 2003 and stayed with this team in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, she finished in second place in the Albstadt Frauen Etappenrennen. She made a move to Dutch team Therme Skin Care in 2006. She finished in second position at the Tour Cycliste Féminin de la Drôme, and third in the fourth stage of the Route de France Féminine. She was the host of the National Public Radio (NPR) newsmagazine ''Weekend Edition Sunday'' from 1989 until her retirement in May 2011.
