Lexington High School (South Carolina)
Lexington High School is a public high school in Lexington, South Carolina that provides education for ninth through twelfth grades, serving the communities of Lexington, Lake Murray, and West Lexington. The school's athletic mascot is the Wildcat. Lexington was the first high school and only school in South Carolina to be twice selected as the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest and the first to be named a Unified School. It is an International Baccalaureate World School. Band The Lexington Wind Ensemble has performed at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, the Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, and awarded the Honor Band at the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational. Lexington, South Carolina
Lexington is the largest town in and the county seat of Lexington County, South Carolina, United States. It is a suburb of the state capital, Columbia. The population was 23,568 at the 2020 Census, and it is the second-largest municipality in the greater Columbia area. The 2021 estimated population is 24,208. According to the Central Midlands Council of Governments, the greater Lexington area had an estimated population of 111,549 in 2020 and is considered the fastest-growing area in the Midlands. John Boozer
John Morgan Boozer (July 6, 1938 – January 24, 1986) was an American Major League Baseball pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies (1962–64 and 1966–69). Boozer has the distinction of being one of only four Major League Baseball players to be ejected from a game for violation of the spitball rule (the others were Nels Potter in 1944, Phil Regan later in 1968, and Gaylord Perry in 1982). The ejection occurred on May 2, 1968, when Boozer, having entered the game for the Phillies in relief of Woody Fryman, with his team trailing 3–0 to the host New York Mets, repeatedly touched his fingers to his mouth during warm-ups for the bottom of the seventh inning. Demetris Summers
Demetris Summers (born October 12, 1983) is a former Canadian football running back who played for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. He was released by the team in April 2010. He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He played college football at South Carolina before being expelled from the team March 1, 2005 after the coaching change and did not play anywhere in the 2005 season before entering early for the 2006 NFL draft, where he was undrafted. Floyd Spence
Floyd Davidson Spence (April 9, 1928 – August 16, 2001) was an American attorney and a politician from the U.S. state of South Carolina. Elected for three terms to the South Carolina House of Representatives from Lexington County as a Democrat, in 1962 Spence announced his decision to switch to the Republican Party, as he was unhappy with shifts in the national party. He lost a contested seat that year for United States Representative from South Carolina's 2nd congressional district to Democrat Albert W. Watson, who had the support of powerful senator Strom Thurmond. Watson shifted to the Republican Party in 1965 and ran unsuccessfully for governor in 1970. That year Spence won the congressional seat, and was re-elected for fourteen terms after this. He became ranking Republican on the House Armed Services Committee in 1993 and chairman in 1995. Lacie Lyn Lybrand (born June 16, 1982) is an American model and beauty queen from Lexington, South Carolina, who was the winner of the Miss United States 2003 pageant, held in New York City. Lybrand won the Miss South Carolina USA 2006 title in the state pageant held in late 2005. This was her second attempt for the title as she had previously placed in the top ten at the 2005 event won by Sarah Medley. Brett P. Jodie (born March 25, 1977) is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher. He played in with the New York Yankees and San Diego Padres. He batted and threw right-handed. He is the current manager for the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball. Career Jodie attended the University of South Carolina.
