Lewis Sargent
Lewis Sargent (August 19, 1903 – November 19, 1970) was an American film actor. He appeared in 80 films between 1917 and 1949. Biography Sargent was born in Los Angeles on August 19, 1903. He had 8 brothers and sisters. His father Lewis was a carpenter, and his older brother, Don Sargent, was a cinematographer in Hollywood for more than 40 years. He was an early friend of James Wong Howe. His ancestor William Sargent sailed to Agawam, Massachusetts with Captain John Smith in 1614. Lewis W. Sargent was the third child of Lewis and Elsa Plath Sargent. He was a child actor in the early days of motion pictures until 1935 when he portrayed Major Francis Martling's assistant George in ''The New Adventures of Tarzan'', produced by its creator Edgar Rice Burroughs. This serial was shot in Guatemala. ''Just Around the Corner'' is an extant 1921 American silent drama film produced by William Randolph Hearst's Cosmopolitan Productions and distributed through Paramount Pictures. The film is based on a short story, "Superman," by Fannie Hurst and was directed by Frances Marion, a prolific Hollywood scenarist. The cast are competent silent actors but no big names. Sigrid Holmquist came from Sweden but was no Garbo and Fred Thomson had married Marion in 1919, and later became a big cowboy star.
