Lewis Flyers Baseball
The Lewis Flyers are the athletic teams that represent Lewis University, located in Romeoville, Illinois, Romeoville (a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, Chicago), Illinois, United States, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division II, Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), primarily competing in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) for most of its sports since the 1980–81 academic year; while its men's volleyball team compete in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA). Since it is not a sponsored sport at the Division II level, the men's volleyball team is the only program that plays in Division I. Prior to joining the NCAA, Lewis was a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), primarily competing in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) from 1954–55 to 1979–80. Lewis University
Lewis University is a private Roman Catholic and Lasallian university in Romeoville, Illinois, United States. The enrollment is currently around 6,800 students. Lewis offers more than 80 undergraduate majors and programs of study, 22 graduate programs, and accelerated programs for working adults. History Lewis University was founded in 1932 by the Archdiocese of Chicago and Bishop Bernard J. Scheil as the ''Holy Name Technical School''. The school gets its name from philanthropist Frank J. Lewis who funded the construction of many of the school's buildings. BYU Cougars
The BYU Cougars are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Brigham Young University (BYU), located in Provo, Utah. BYU fields 21 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) varsity athletic teams. They are a member of the West Coast Conference for most sports. Other sports compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and as independents. NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship
The NCAA men's volleyball tournament, officially titled the NCAA National Collegiate Men's Volleyball Championship, is an annual competition that determines the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship in American college men's volleyball. It had been the only NCAA championship in the sport from 1970 until 2012, when the NCAA launched a NCAA Division III men's volleyball tournament, Division III championship. Unlike most NCAA sports, men's volleyball uses a modified version of the National Collegiate championship format, which means NCAA Division I, Division I and NCAA Division II, Division II teams compete against each other in the same tournament. The 1976 NAIA World Series was the 20th annual tournament hosted by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics to determine the national champion of baseball among its member colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The tournament was again played at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, Missouri. Two-time defending champions Lewis (IL) (47–15) defeated Lewis–Clark State (48–11) in a single-game championship series, 16–8, to win the Flyers' third NAIA World Series. The tournament was again played at Phil Welch Stadium in St. Joseph, Missouri. In a rematch of the previous year's final, defending champions Lewis (IL) (52-16) defeated Sam Houston State (43-14) in a single-game championship series, 2–1, to win the Flyers' second NAIA World Series. Sam Houston State Bearkats Baseball
The Sam Houston State Bearkats baseball team is a varsity intercollegiate athletic team of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, United States. The team is a member of the Western Athletic Conference, an athletic conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The team plays its home games at Don Sanders Stadium. History The first Sam Houston baseball team was fielded in 1906 and was the university's first collegiate athletic team. Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference
The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Its 14 members are located in the Midwestern United States. In many sports, the conference champion qualifies directly for national competition. The CCAC sanctions play in eight men's and eight women's sports. Great Lakes Valley Conference
The Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) is a List of NCAA conferences, college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the NCAA Division II, Division II level. Its thirteen member institutions are located in the U.S. states of Illinois, Indiana, and Missouri, with an Iowa school joining in July 2023.
