Lewis Allen (rugby Union)
Louis Allen (30 October 1870 – 17 October 1932) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A centre and five-eighth, Allen represented Taranaki and, briefly, at a provincial level. He was a member of the New Zealand national side between 1896 and 1901, appearing in 13 matches, but no test matches as New Zealand did not play its first full international until 1903. Frederick Lewis Allen
Frederick Lewis Allen (July 5, 1890 – February 13, 1954) was the editor of ''Harper's Magazine'' and also notable as an American historian of the first half of the twentieth century. His specialty was writing about recent and popular history. Life Allen was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied at Groton, graduated from Harvard University in 1912 and received his Master's in 1913. He taught at Harvard briefly thereafter before becoming assistant editor of the ''Atlantic Monthly'' in 1914, and then managing editor of '' The Century'' in 1916. He began working for ''Harper's'' in 1923, becoming editor-in-chief in 1941, a position he held until shortly before his death, aged 63, in New York City. His wife, Dorothy Penrose Allen (''née'' Cobb, a first cousin of Ambassador Ellsworth Bunker), died just prior to the 1931 publication of his best-known book, ''Only Yesterday''. Lewis Allen (25 December 1905 – 3 May 2000) was a British-born director whose credits included classic television series and a diverse range of films. Allen worked mainly in the United States, working on Broadway theatre, Broadway and directing 18 feature films between 1944 and 1959. From the mid-1950s he moved increasingly into television and worked on a number of the most popular shows of the time in the US. Career Allen was born in the small Shropshire town of Oakengates and attended Tettendan Hall in Staffordshire. Biography Early life Meeropol was born in 1903 to Russian Jewish immigrants in The Bronx, New York City. Meeropol graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1921 (his classmate Countee Cullen graduated in 1922); he earned a B.A. degree from City College of New York, and an M.A. from Harvard. Lewis Allan (born 25 October 1996) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a striker for Berwick Rangers. Allan has previously played for Hibernian, Dunfermline Athletic, Forfar Athletic, Livingston, Edinburgh City and Raith Rovers. Club career Allan made one appearance for Hibernian in the 2014–15 season, against Falkirk on 6 December. In February 2015, Allan was loaned to Dunfermline Athletic, making eight appearances before returning from his loan at the end of March 2015. In August 2015, Allan was loaned to Forfar Athletic until the end of the 2015–16 season, however his loan was cut short when he had to have a bone cyst removed from his thoracic spine.
