Lewis-Palmer High School
Lewis-Palmer High School (LPHS) is a public high school in Monument, Colorado. It is one of only two high schools in the Lewis-Palmer School District 38, the other being Palmer Ridge High School. 2006 Issue The school refused to give its 2006 valedictorian her diploma after she mentioned Jesus Christ in her commencement speech. Corder pursued legal action against the school district. The court ruled against Corder by declaring that the graduation was a school-sponsored event and therefore the school was under the obligation to uphold the constitutional separation between church and state. The court also ruled that the school's policy for graduation speeches was too vague, and thus unconstitutional due to the "chilling effect" that is created by overly broad rules. Monument, Colorado
The Town of Monument is a Home rule town situated at the base of the Rampart Range in El Paso County, Colorado, United States. Monument is one of the three communities that make up the Tri-Lakes area (along with Palmer Lake and Woodmoor). The town is part of the Colorado Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had an estimated population of 700,000 in 2019. Monument is bordered by Pike National Forest on the west, Colorado Springs and the United States Air Force Academy to the south, Bald Mountain, True Mountain, and Spruce Mountain to the north, and Black Forest and rolling plains to the east. Monument was first settled as a stop along the Rio Grande Railroad in 1872, and the area was incorporated as a town called Henry's Station in 1879, but the name was later changed to Monument. Josh Scott (born July 13, 1993) is an American professional basketball player for Yokohama B-Corsairs of the Japanese B.League. He played college basketball at the University of Colorado under Tad Boyle, where he was an All-Pac-12 Conference player for the Buffaloes. Derek Theler (born October 29, 1986) is an American film and television actor and model. Acting career Theler started his acting career in 2009, starring in several minor roles in TV series such as '' The Middle'', ''Cougar Town'', and '' The Hills''. Patrick Joseph Garrity (born August 23, 1976) is an American former professional basketball player who played for ten years in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bobby Burling
Robert Charles Burling (born October 15, 1984) is an American soccer player who plays as a defender. Career College Burling played college soccer at Loyola Marymount University and with Colorado Springs Blizzard in the USL Premier Development League before being drafted in the 4th round (45th overall) by Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2007 MLS Superdraft. Professional Burling was not offered a contract by Galaxy, and instead signed for Chivas USA three months later. He made over twenty appearances for Chivas, but did not score a goal. Colorado Buffaloes Men's Basketball
The Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team represents the University of Colorado Boulder. The team competes in the Pac-12 Conference of NCAA Division I. They are currently coached by Tad Boyle.
