Basketball Club Levski Sofia ( bg, Баскетболен клуб Левски София), simply known as Levski ( bg, Левски), is a Bulgarian professional basketball club based in the capital Sofia. It is the basketball section of Levski Sofia sports club. History Founded in 1923, Levski has won a record 59 honours: 16 NBL titles, 14 Bulgarian Cups and 2 Bulgarian Supercups/Men/ & 8 Bulgarian championships and 13 Bulgarian Cups/Women/. International titles won by the club are: 1 EuroLeague in 1984, 2 EuroCups in 1978 & 1979 and 3 Balkan Leagues (regional European title) in 2010, 2014 & 2018. They play their home matches at the Universiade Hall in Sofia. In 2018, Lukoil announced its sponsorship deal with Levski. Consequently, the new club name would be Levski Lukoil. National Basketball League (Bulgaria)
The National Basketball League (NBL) (in Bulgarian: Националната баскетболна лига) is the highest professional basketball league in Bulgaria. The current league was founded in 2008, though the first-tier level existed since 1942 and was previously called the Bulgarian A Division. The games in the NBL are played under FIBA rules. The most successful team in NBL history is PBC Academic, which has won 26 national titles. The 2017–18 National Basketball League (Bulgaria) season was the 77th season of the Bulgarian NBL. The season started on October 7, 2017 and ended on May 29, 2018. The EuroCup Women (officially ''FIBA EuroCup Women'') is the second-level basketball competition with teams from associate members of FIBA Europe. It succeeds the Ronchetti Cup. In the fifth season of the Balkan International Basketball League, twelve participants from the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia, Montenegro, Israel, Croatia and the new represented country Greece has competed. Teams Format First round In the first round the teams were divided into two groups, each containing five teams. Each team played every other team in its group at home and away. The three teams that finished at the top of their group advanced to second round (or Group C). The teams that finished fourth and fifth in their group advanced to another group (or Group D). The 2017–18 BIBL season is the 10th edition of Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL). The competition started on 10 October 2017. Competition format Eight teams joined the competition and played a round robin tournament where each team faced the others in home and away games. The top two teams qualified directly for the Final Four, whereas the teams finishing on ranks 3-6 played in additional two-legged playoffs to fill the remaining two places.
