Levan Kalyayev
Lev Alekseyevich Kalyayev (russian: Леван Алексеевич Каляев; May 16, 1929 – August 19, 1983) was a Soviet athlete who competed mainly in the 100 metres. Kalyayev competed for the USSR in the 1952 Summer Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland in the 4 x 100 metre relay where he won the silver medal with his team mates Boris Tokarev, Levan Sanadze and Vladimir Sukharev. Athletics At The Summer Olympics
Athletics has been contested at every Summer Olympics since the birth of the modern Olympic movement at the 1896 Summer Olympics. The athletics program traces its earliest roots to events used in the ancient Greek Olympics. The modern program includes track and field events, road running events, and race walking events. Cross country running was also on the program in earlier editions but it was dropped after the 1924 Summer Olympics. Summary Events The events contested have varied widely.
